Michael Vick ordered to stay out of training camp

By DAVE GOLDBERG
AP Football Writer
NEW YORK (AP) - Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.
"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.
The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed.

I'm sure he's still getting paid.

We'll pay you, but you can't come to work. Maybe I should kill something.

Wow, sucks to be the Falcons OC. You have a set offense and playbook designed for Mike Vick, and now, right before TC starts, you have to make one for Joey Harrington basically. As far as I know, hes not exactly a mobile QB with only 369 rushing yards in 5 seasons. DJ Shockley is sort of like Vick, but didnt see one down of action last year. Should be interesting.

Seems like Goodell made the right decision. Glad I'm not a Falcons fan!

Vick is a pariah. This is just the next step on the way to his permanent expulsion from the NFL.

I'm not satisfied yet. He ultimately deserves nothing less than a lifetime ban and a few slams against the concrete ground for good measure.

Screw Vick, I hope he gets a lifetime ban. The NFL needs to really punish someone to get the message across that the players need to clean up there act. A lifetime ban would go a long way.

On the other hand, I kind of feel bad for the Falcons, especially after they traded Shaub. If they had any indication that Vick liked to watch dogs die, I am sure they would have held on to him.

The Falcons OC has been employed for what, 6 months at most? Almost all of which he knew about this pending problem. I'm sure they were smart enough to take it into account.

Actually....he said that he would be in favor or a suspension right now, or paid leave of absense.

Must have missed that. I stand corrected. :bf1:
