All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
San Francisco Chronicle: Sapp In Danger of Being Released By Raiders
San Francisco Chronicle: Sapp In Danger of Being Released By Raiders
Warren Sapp is reportedly in danger of being released by the Raiders.
Oakland has developed top-notch depth on the defensive line and may need cap room to sign JaMarcus Russell. Zack Crockett will likely be the first to go.
This move would make no sense after the kind of season he had last year. If they do let him go he would be a great fit in our C2.

(in reference to dumb and dumber) : "Pick 'em up!"
Seriously though, he is getting up there in age, but sure knows a thing or 2 about rushing the passer at DT and would help our D-lineman a lot. I dont see us picking him up if he gets cut anyways.
Re: San Francisco Chronicle: Sapp In Danger of Being Released By Raiders
I can't stand Sapp and have always thought he was a touch overrated. Not to mention he didn't exactly endear himself to Buffalo fans a few years back. That being said, he'd clearly be an upgrade to our current DT status.

As I stated earlier, I would love to add Sapp to the d-line. But it doesn't seem to fit the model of what this franchise has been doing over the last 18 months, which is to get younger.
Re: San Francisco Chronicle: Sapp In Danger of Being Released By Raiders
I think Sapp has kept his nose clean enough that Marv would not steer clear due to him being flamboyant. That being said, I think we would be out-bid right out of the gate. Now, if we somehow could get him on a 2 year contract that was cap friendly, of course I think we would...but he is too good, and he would sell tickets whereever he goes...so he won't come cheap.
