Smith, Williams: Odd Men Out at RB

Assuming the bills keep 4 RBs:
Lynch, Thomas, and Wright should be 1-2-3 on the depth chart although Wright could still be a "?" His upside and versatility should keep him in favor.
That leaves Scobey as the 4th being the special teams ace that he is.
This would make Shaud Williams and Jonathan Smith the odd men out. Williams would have to be cut, but Smith, I believe, is still practice-squad- eligible.

How Shaud Williams has survivied this long is amazing to me. I'm hoping his time is done here.

when did jonathan smith switch from WR to RB? And from what I've read from the guys watching the practices, Scobey hasn't shone that much, either as a runner or returner. In the past we've kept 3 RBs and 2 FBs. Well since Nuefeld and Cieslak are our 2 H-Backs, why would we start keeping 4 RBs now? I think we only keep A-Train and the two rookies and that's it.

You may be right. But Scobey plays both ways on special teams.

I meant to say Fred Jackson.....I keep getting thrown off by that "Fast Freddie" thing.

while i agree that shaud williams and fred jackson may not really offer anything.. scobey hasnt done anything yet, so in my mind, the guy is far from a lock to making the team.. he is going to have to play well in the preseason for the coaches to want him over williams, i think.. but who knows..

we might keep 5 running backs too without a FB. so scobey and williams may stay.

Yeah, Scobey has been a disappointment. Probably the reason he was available in the first place.

And I've read that Shaud is an excellent ST'er. If the Bills dump Aiken, they might have to keep Shaud.

I don't think Wright is going anywhere and there is even a question about that. This coaching staff loves him and have for awhile. It's going to be interesting to see who makes it between Jackson, Williams and Scobey.

We have to keep an extra TE for the H-back position. I don't think we'll have room for a 5th RB and maybe not even a 4th.

Jonathon Smith actually came out of cllege with a little blurb on his resume that said he could play a little running back. He's mainly a WR/return specialist though. I think Shaud Williams and Fred Jackson are indeed the odd men out at RB. Some media guys thought Smith might actually stick. He's got pretty good hands and RAC ability, but he's not so special that undersized and relatively slow as he is he's a serious threat to make the team IMHO
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

ive been more impressed with jackson overall than the other 2.. espec after watching him last year and from the camp updates/videos. i dunno if he'll make it but i think he's got a better chance than the other 2

I was at practice this morning & Jackson looked great. he was taking snaps with the 3rd down offense. He had a speed burst to the outside and up the middle. He made a couple of the line backers look silly.

Personally, I think Fred Jackson is quietly impressing the coaches and if he has a strong preseason, I could see him making a strong case for a 4th RB this season with Williams and Scobey as the casualities.

We already have a little running back - Shaud Williams.

I have to agree with a few people here...Fred Jackson has looked good and done well in ST also. I'm starting to think it should be: Lynch, Wright, A-Train, Jackson that we should keep for 1st stringer, 2nd...etc!
