    Re: Favorite Thurman Memory?

A snowy December game I was sitting near the tunnel. That was the greatest seat I have ever had the pleasure to sit in. That game vs the Fish was the best.

Snow getting heavier. Thurman Thomas scoring the touch down putting the Bills in a definite win.

Seemed like he slid into the endzone. But, he did it with so much finess.

I have a lot of great memories of Thurman, but my favorite has to be the AFC Championship game against the Cheifs. He was un stoppable in every way.

      Congrtas again Thurman Thomas

I will always remember a play against Miami. I want to say it was in 1997. It was 3rd and 2, the Bills had a small lead and there was about 2 minutes left. If the Bills got the first down, the game was over.

Thurman got the hand-off and was hit one yard deep in the backfield. He carried the tackler for 3 yards, falling down just after gaining the first down.

Brian Cox was pretty pissed about beign carried for 3 yards by the 190 pound Thurman Thomas.

All anyone has to do is say "counter tray," and I get visions of 50 yard runs.

Bills vs Chefs 1993 AFC Title game. Three TDs and due to a bet with my fifth grade teacher no homework for a week. Thurman thank you.

December 30, 1995 -- BILLS WIN WILD CARD GAME ON GROUND
Bills RB Thurman Thomas ran for 158 yards to lead a ground attack that piled up an AFC playoff record 341 yards rushing as Buffalo defeat the Miami Dolphins, 37-22, to win an AFC wild card playoff game at Rich Stadium.
"'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"

"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."

Meeting him as a rookie at a Bills Booster Club meeting.

Every year they used to bring in a few rookies. I think Denny Lynch brought he and Jeff Wright to the meeting.

I remember shaking his hand thinking, I'm taller than he is, how can he survive in the NFL?

                        SB 25!
One of the single best performances in a game of that magnitude. That game alone sealed his ticket to Canton!

As Thurman goes, so go the Buffalo Bills

That game against the Dolphins when the Bills had the ball at the 40 and he made Jamie Mueller run backwards to the 1 just so he could score a TD on a 99 yard touchdown run on the next play.

Oh wait, that was Tecmo Super Bowl. sorry.

Awesome! I will be making a deal with my students this year just like I did last year. If the Bills win, no homework Monday and Tuesday (we have 90-minute blocks, so I only see them every other day) and if a test was scheduled, everyone gets a 5 point bonus (I never schedule tests for Monday unless I absolutely can't help it) but if they lose, they get homework and are subject to being humiliated in front of their classmates if they are a fan of the winning team. They get so excited about not having homework that they are more productive than most days and we get through the homework in class. Suckers! I am much too smart for them....well....most of them, anyway....some of them are sharp as tacks. On one of those Mondays after a win, one kid said "We did a lot today," and I just winked. He got it.
