It never "works"...it just delays the inevitable. This defensive coaching staff cannot play call this way again this year or it will be a long year. QB's cannot complete that high of a percentage of their passes against us for this team to be a playoff team. It's been pretty embarrassing so far.

I don't like this coaching staff's approach so far. If we want to be different on offense and open it up, then you have to practice it during preseason games. If you want to be more of an attacking defense, then you have to do it during a preseason game. The only way to breed success is to try to achieve it play in and play out.

Considering that the Bills are playing one of the best teams in the NFC, with an explosive offense--a team that lost its first preseason game and was punished for doing so all week by their coach for doing so--I expected the Bills to have some problems with the Saints in this game. But, I also expected more from the Bills on both offense and defense.

I know that the Bills are playing vanilla, etc., etc., but they're just not making plays except with their STs.

Right now the 2nd string D is stinking it up big-time.

I agree with some of the negative comments so far. Conservative playcalling offensively is not what I expected, and defensive line so far looks like last year. A little concerned JP is having to scramble as much as he's had to.

Also agree that this is Saints second pre-season game, and it's not fair to expect everything people have seen in training camp in our first pre-season game.

My biggest kudo so far is to Poz. Since he's been in he seems to know exactly where to be, and is reading the plays well. Hats off to Moorman as usual too.

That's exactly it. I would be more worried if this game was game 2. But it's only the first game of the preseason and the Bills showed one of the most vanilla offenses and even defenses out there. What I watched in the game was a different gameplan from the one they have been using in Training Camp. I'm nervous, but not pissed off or worried yet.

I totally agree. After watching him make some of those big plays, I like what I see from him. I definitely want to see him get more involved and think I might even look at him for #2 or #3 receiver. I personally think that Price is the weak link on the WR corps.

In general the Saints look a little sharper. The Bills starting offense in particular didn't look very sharp. I think reports of Nall's demise are a bit premature. He failed to finish off a drive. In the final series of downs, his pass on second down wasn't particularly sharp, but overall, it was a pretty good series. It appeared to me that the Bills played a little more vanilla than the Saints, which may be why the Saints appeared able to move the ball a little more consistently than the Bills. I read in one of the NYC papers that their coach was so mad at them after the HOF game bcause of their lack of effort that he cancelled their scheduled light practice and made them work in pads all week and made them do some extra work during their first practice after they got back from the HOF game.

I kinda figured that they would be unhappy about that and come out fired up for this game. But, I was also hoping that the Bills would show a little more at the start of this game as well. They had said they were going to be playing pretty vanilla, but it certainly sounds like there has been a problem with their execution within that. That'll give the Bills' coaches something to focus on this week in their practices, even if they decide to keep things pretty vanilla next week as well.
