A little bit of hope... apparantly we're not the only ones complaining...

Washington, D.C. (April 24, 2007) -- CBS yesterday revealed that it will double its High-Definition coverage of the National Football League during the 2007 season.

The network aired just three NFL games a week in high-def last season, but CBS spokeswoman Leslie Anne Wade told TVPredictions.com that it will show "up to six games" this fall.

When glancing through last year's HD NFL schedule (http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/09/07/2006-nfl-hd-schedule/), there were still quite a few games that sadly didn't get the HD treatment it rightfully deserved, but in news that's sure to make those who just endured the painstaking NFL Draft a bit more jovial, that won't be the case in 2007 (or beyond). According to a snippet at SignOnSanDiego, CBS (http://www.engadgethd.com/category/cbs/) will reportedly be offering up "five or six games per week this season in high-definition, up from three a year ago." Additionally, the NFL has also declared that "all games must be shown in HD starting in 2008," which means that you can finally stop biting your nails about whether your team's matchup will be shot in HD. Four months and counting, folks.

Once college basketball starts, I'd be surprised if they air more than 4.

However, that's still better than the 3 they were offering last year.

The 2008 is a good thing as well- I heard it was going to be 2009.

Great news! Thanks.

I could never get mad at DirectTV for the lack of Bills coverage -- some people dont understand that it's up to the networks. Hopefully this will accelerate more Bills games on HD.

Direct TV needs to get their rears in motion to open up the rest of their HD channels since the new satellite was launched. Only until then can I get the locals in HD as well (I live in the country so having one of those fancy antennas may not really help me at this point.)

Sept. 15 is the date I heard for the launch.

effin A, thanks for the info!

no problem.

Actually, to clarify: the satellite launched a long time ago and is being tested- Sept 15 is the day the first block of new HD channels should be available.

You'll need B-Band converters on your HD receivers- you can get the info here:

And my Superfan is now fully justified.

Although, I bet 5 of the 7 CBS games are Bills games.

According to my friend who's a Skins fan, all the Skins games are in HD this year, and we play them week 13, which isn't one of the six weeks that everything is HD.

The Dallas game is in Week 5, which is 100% HD, unfortunately (night games are always HD so I'd rather have the 100% HD days in a week where we don't have a night game).

Anyway, looks like we're guaranteed 7 HD games and should have a lot more with any luck. If we can get to 10, that will be a huge improvement over last year.

Now if I could just get more than 2 games on locally...

If the Bills win alot of games this year, they'll be all in HD. I don't think NE had one game played outside HD unless it was against us, bast......

Since I live outside the States for another 2 seasons, the only thing I care about is that cable and DirecTV get all the programming in HD. When I left the States, I had like 8 HD channels with Comcast. I need more!!!

BTW, I am going crazy overseas watching good ole analog signal quality. Thanks US Army, stay classy!
