1. Phillip Wheeler-Georgia Tech-6’2, 230lbs
The leader of this stingy defense returns for a senior year in which he plans to cause even more havoc than he did last year with his 9 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. He is the reason why John Tenuta can be so creative in his blitzing scheme.
Key Games: Sept.1 @ Notre Dame, Nov.24 v. Georgia

2. Vince Hall-Virginia Tech-6’0, 240lbs
One of the most consistent and commonly overlooked defenses is the hoakies of Virginia Tech, they had four shutouts last year and that was led by Vince Hall who plays in the middle but makes plays from sideline to sideline.
Key Games: Sept. 8 @ LSU, Nov. 17 v. Miami

3. Jonathan Goff-Vanderbilt-6’4, 235lbs
Second Team All-SEC last year comes back to try and cement his legacy at Vandy as one of the best Linebackers every to come through there. He’ll need a monster season to try and lead the Commodores out of the SEC basement.
Key Games: Nov. 3 @ Florida, Nov. 17 @ Tennessee

4. Jasper Brinkley-South Carolina-6’2, 262lbs
Jasper led the Gamecocks with 107 tackles last season in route to an All-SEC Team nomination. This year he returns to not only lead his defense in the tough SEC but also to play right next to his twin brother Casper who has moved from DE to OLB.
Key Games: Sept. 8 @ Georgia, Sept. 22 @ LSU

5. J Lemon-Illinois-6’2, 240
In a conference that is dominated by great LB play, Lemon’s name is consistently lost in the shuffle. However he quietly finished third in the nation in tackles last season and was the All-Big Ten LB last season. He is coming off ankle surgery this past spring and that is a concern.
Key Games: Oct. 20 v. Michigan, Nov. 10 @ Ohio State

6. Corey McKeon-Nebraska
7. Mike Klinkenborg-Iowa
8. Ben Moffitt-South Florida
9. Weston Dacus-Arkansas
10. Maurice Crum Jr.-Notre Dame

Brian Toel-Boston College-Medical Red-Shirt Year in 2008

Not a huge need, for us if Poz plays like he did in the preseason so far, but depth is a slight concern.
