(March 19, 2003) -- I'm glad to see the Jets didn't match the Redskins offer for wide receiver Laveranues Coles . He's a nice young player, but at what cost to the infrastructure of your football team? If the Jets gave Coles the $13 million bonus required to match the Washington offer, what do you think Chad Pennington or John Abraham would want when their turn comes?

Quarterbacks are now -- and always will be -- worth more than a wide receiver. I will not make the case that Coles had to do with Pennington's success, but I do feel Pennington had something to do with Coles' success. There are other pass catchers out there that can help the Jets
