17:30 PT: The AP reports former San Francisco 49ers S Al Blades was killed early Thursday when the car he was riding in crashed into a bridge and plunged into a canal. He was just 26 years old. Blades was riding in the car when the driver lost control early Thursday. Our condolences to his family and friends.
