It appears that the Detroit Red Wings (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/det/) are sniffing around Peter Forsberg (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/333/)'s corner, and you can add the Anaheim Ducks (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/ana/), Buffalo Sabres (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/buf/), Nashville Predators (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/nas/), Edmonton Oilers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/edm/), New York Islanders (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/nyi/), Pittsburgh Penguins (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/pit/) and, yes, the Colorado Avalanche (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/col/) to that list.

He's great, if you wish to way overpay for what amounts to a handful of really great performances during the course of a season.

And unless you checked with Eklund at Hockey Buzz... I refuse to believe this rumor!

Actually the article seems somewhat dated but I figured it was worth posting since there isn't much activity here lately.

And for a reasonable price I'd love to have him. I highly doubt it would happen though.

who needs him? I'm sure we'll be fine with the exact same lineup as last year minus the two best players.

at this point, I wouldn't because it would be the ONLY thing they did this off-season to make the team better.

I am not sure that he is worth the trouble. He is a fine player when he is healthy and motivated. There is where the problem is.

Keep in mind guys we are not that far off the cap as it is. We would have enough to sign Forsberg but then we would be right up against it like last year.

Darcy says this is our team for this year, we're going with the guys that we have and the Sabres are 2 million over the cap that we had last year. the Sabres said that "they would spend more than they did last year but not go up to this years cap".
