Patrick if this becomes a reality we will be in the playoffs. We couldn't stop a turkey with a uzi last year and would of won a few more had the d held up in some of the latter season games.

Dude you're crazy! McCargo is a number one pick with 4 games under his belt. it's not going to take him 3 years. That guy's ready to go. And Anderson is like the number 4 or 5 guy. He can fill that role.

I'll give you this...I don't agree with the Top 5. That's very unrealistic if you ask me. We might be Top 5 in takeaways, but not total defense.

What I will give you though, is that our defense will be better than our offense. I don't know what it is, it's probably me seeing the same stalling offense from last season in the preseason games, and I really hope the Bills starters can mount a nice sustained drive and put 7 on the board in this next game, but I'm just not sold yet on JP making good decisions yet and not sold on our WR positioning now...I just don't think we're helping JP out by leaving Price as the 2nd WR. I just don't...I believe he's more of a liability to JP than anything else.

But I do believe out defense is going to be much better than last year. I AM worried about our CB's the most...I have a lot of faith in Poz, he looked great, and I also like what I see from Ellison and I believe Crowell will hopefully have a big year too, he needs to. Our LB depth looks nice too, Coy Wire was a beast and I hope it's a sign of things to come. I tell you what, though, from what I've seen of Ko and Donte, they look good as hell, sure they need to still polish up some things a bit, but they're heavy hitters, theyre just making the ball carrier pay big time if they get to second level, Donte and Ko both had some nice hits to players and they'll only get better. Hopefully they can counter the shaky CB play by adding solid coverage downfield.

Wow! I love the positive attitude, but I think you are wishing and dreaming here.

I believe our D can be better then last year , but the youth/experience curve, will prevent us from cracking the top 10, let alone top 5. Losing Spikes Fletcher and Clements and replacing them with young limited experience players will have an effect, anf that effect will make it tought to crack the top 10 in D's IMO.

Our DL is no where's near dominate enough to get us into the top 10 IMO. Schobel is solid but he has never been a great, nor does he strike fear into any opposing teams O coordinators. Schobel is no Bruce Smith, Strahan etc... Denny and Kelsay have been getting better but now Denny is out. Hargrove won't be making any probowl bids this year either. Our DT's are average. Maybe McCargo breaks out and shows flashes of dominace, but it is his 1st full season (if he makes it thru it).

If the Bills were to be a top 20 D then that alone would be a big bright spot looking into 2008. We lose Spikes Fletcher Clements, replace them with inexperienced youth and still move up 8 or so spots on D rankings from 2006... that would be an accomplishment worthy of generating excitement for the future believing we will add some pieces to the D in 2008.

Great Top 5 defense. We only gave up 218 yards in the first half that the starters were on the field.

I know it's only preseason though unless we do good and then it counts for something.

your corners are weak now that clements is gone. posluszny is still a rookie, spikes is gone, you have one good safety, the only good person on the line is schoebel.

what you need is a defense like miami's. they have so many good guys on the front 7 that the o line cant load up to one side because jason taylor is opposite joey porter. keith traylor stuffing up the middle along with vonnie holliday and matt roth is going to just own completely. not to mention zach thomas, yeremiah bell, and channing crowder.

patrick, earlier you posted that McCargo was a 1st round pick..ya a first round pick by the bills, when he was really projected to go in like the 4th round..and i would give up on anderson, he's a scrub..Schobel is the only great talent on this DL, other than that, we're pretty much screwed..double team on schobel, an there will be no pressure to the quarterback..it's gonna be a long season.

Actually I think by mid season this will be more true than not.... probably not top 5 but dominating, yes. Its only a matter of time before they put it all together. Schobel and Kelsay should get back on track, Denney and Hargrove will be huge additions and the many flashes we've seen from McCargo and Tripps this year should become consistencies. Give it some time and this DL will be playing great football.


BTW im talking about the front 7 not the defense as a whole. The Secondary has a long way to go.
