The Detroit Lions released former Pro Bowl return specialist Eddie Drummond on Thursday. Drummond was named to the Pro Bowl after the 2004 season when he became the second player in NFL history to return two kickoffs and two punts for touchdowns in the same season. He made the trip to Hawaii, despite missing the last five games with a broken shoulder blade........

Drummond ranked seventh in the league with a career-best 1,349 kickoff return yards, but was not used in offensive coordinator Mike Martz's scheme.

Forget about overusing Terrence McGee. Let's get this guy!

This guy is a very good return guy.

Detriot released him because he couldn't play a regular position and they didn't want to carry someone as just a return guy. However, he is still very good as a returner.

And he's only 27. I would love to bring him here, especially with the team's emphasis on special teams....

Eh...

Depends on how cheap he would be. I agree with not using McGee on kickoffs anymore though. I don't like the idea now that he is the #1 CB.

I don't know if the Pats pursue him now that they have Wes Welker.

That's an easy choice. Scobey has been injured all camp. I say sign him....and cut Josh Scobey and Shaud Williams.

I would like but McGee makes other specials teams look dumb. I mean the man made the Pro Bowl for what hes doing now.

As I recall, he's had some injury problems since 2004, but if he is healthy, he'd be worth a look for the right price. I don't think Scobey has as much to offer if Drummond is healthy.
