    Schobel Deal Done

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Bills have signed DE Aaron Schobel to a seven-year, $50.5 million contract. $21 million is guaranteed.
The three remaining base salaries Schobel had on his old deal are now guaranteed. So is his new salary of $6 million in 2010. Schobel, one of the most underrated ends in the league, didn't get as much as Dwight Freeney (six years, $72 million) at first glance, but his contract is more stable.

So they didn't reestructure his contract, they just extended it?

By the way, what does it mean that the next four years the money is guaranteed?, does it mean that he gets all of it even if he is cut next year?

Makes sense, in exchange for guaranteeing the money that he would have made anyway had he stayed healthy and extending him early Schobel signed a deal that is probably cheaper overall then what he would have gotten if he continued to play well and you guys waited to extend him until he was in his final year.

                  Makes sense IMO.

So for the next three years, we're not paying him any more than he was already going to make?

50 million isn't bad but if his deal in any way shape or form results in Lee Evans not getting resigned then I think this was a horrible signing. However, the force tells me that Lee Evans & Losman will both be resigned, so we're ok.

evans will be next, but I think JP still has some work to do before he gets his extension.
