One thing to keep in mind

The preseason features vanilla offense and vanilla defense. Don't worry so much!

The Raiders went 4-0 last preseason, I believe.

That is true and I haven't called the suicide hotline yet, but other teams seem to be running vanilla schemes as well and executing them well enough - they also seem to be able to tackle, so there is definitely some cause for concern in my opinion.

The tackling was poor but I'm not worried about most of the other stuff. Unlike the multiple people calling me last night to ***** me out about the offense.

IMO a great team can make vanilla schemes work. Poor teams or inexperience teams struggle to make vanilla work, and end up looking like the Bills do this preseason.

Also, vanilla or not there is plenty to be concerned about. The team needs to be consistent, and one thing they haven't been is consistent. Without a reliable running game the O will sputter with 3 and outs way more often then we would want/like, leaving our bend don't break D out on the field bending and breaking.

We have yet to dominate time of possession, and if the Bills have any shot at the playoffs we are going to have to keep the D off the field.... we simply must find our running game.

All hope is not lost, but there are some very obvious troubling things happening that no one here can deny.

If they can't run a vanilla offense, why think they can run a real one? Gotta execute on the basics first.

There's nothing Vanilla about a team going up and down the field at will against your first team defense, and its happened EVERY GAME SO FAR.

is our defense talented enough to just throw on a switch when the games count?
