He said...

Kyle Williams gets manhandled, Triplett hasn't played well.
Webster hasn't shown him anything.
The answer at CB is not on the roster.
Buffalo has no answer at DT.
"Defensive Tackle is as bad as I can recall it"
Buffalo safeties are making all the tackles. " Not a good sign"
Buffalo's linebackers are being blocked off the play.

And he goes on to say the Bills have the worst defense in football!
He says this defense is "Not even close"

He also says Buffalo defense is " What it is" and unless Buffalo finds some players it could be a long season.

If you have not listoned to the interview go to the audio vault on WGR's site and look for Paul Hamilton interview after titans game. (Aug 27th)

Like i've always said....Paul Hamilton is a cocky, arrogant tool. He really doesn't like the Bills and will always be a Sabres beat reporter in my mind and nothing else. I swear, he always has such crap to say about the team, meanwhile he's stroking every Sabres player. I still don't understand why WGR is so cheap that they can't bring the old WNSA Bills Beat reporter Jeff Morrison back. He did a great job with it and is working with the station in some capacity now. Or else, Brian Koziol. He filled in for Paul Hamilton during the beginning of camp and he was a nice change of pace. He wasn't so damn condscending and actually covered the practices without an ax to grind.

I like our roster talent but maybe the Cover 2 scheme needs to go away after this year, if we continue to get run over.

he's not the only one saying it.

I didn't get to see the whole pre season game on Fri and what I did see was in a bar yaking with mystic and kgun- I still have to watch it more closely on my DVR. But here's what I've seen so far:

1. Schobel gets decent pressure- the rest of our DE's have done nothing, except Hargrove who does well against 2nd stringers and is suspended for the first 4 games anyway.
2. DT's- McCargo isn't where he needs to be, Williams looked better last year, Tripplett is easily neutralized and Anderson will always be Anderson.
3. LB's- Ellison is consistently out of position and overpursues like crazy. DiGiorgio hasn't impressed me but hasn't been awful. Wire has looked strong, Poz has looked decent. Crowell- I know he was injured for the one game but he's been largely invisible.
4. DB's- Webster looks confused, Youboty has had good moments and bad, McGee looks ok, haven't seen enough of Thomas to comment. Without McGee this unit is in BIG trouble- let's hope he makes it back. Whitner and Simpson both look good, but I am concerned about depth. Leonhard blows this year. Wilson looks decent and I'm hoping Wendling steps up.

All things considered, this D is full of question marks. I'm sure some of these young guys will step up but I'm not sure if it will be enough. The lack of talent on the DL makes it tougher on everyone else, especially in the Cover 2 system.

Agreed. I would like to see us go to a 3-4 defense next year. Coy Wire can be one of the OLBs. :snicker:

Exactly. I heard him a few times on the way home from training camp talk about this guy doing this, or that guy doing something else wrong and then I'm like WTF practice were you watching? That player actually had a good day. :shakeno:

first Paul Hamilton is not a football reporter, he's a hockey reporter, he knows nothing about football. Now let me tell you who should be doing the Bills coverage Jeff Morrison he covered them when WNSA was still on the radio and has been doing it since the Bills came into the league. But this is how stupid WGR is they have him doing sports tickers instead of having him at Bills practice covering the Bills. I miss WNSA

This defense is still in the process of rebuilding and its is going to be one of the worst defenses in the league imo until they show me they can stop someone which they haven't done since pat williams was at DT.

Our defense can't be that bad....it may get pushed around, but it isn't coughing up tons of points. Far from it, actually. I'm beginning to feel like a broken record here, but our offense needs to step up and put up points so the D can open up and get some rest sometimes...

Please explain to me why you think it will be any different once the regular season starts. It's the same players on the field, and they'll be playing the whole game so they'll be tired.

Also, I keep hearing about how our offense is "vanilla". Well, aren't all offenses vanilla this time of year? Don't defenses typically excel in pre-season against offenses more intent on practicing and not tipping their hand before the season than winning?

Well I'll tell you what, they aren't going to fix a damn thing in our last preseason game. All the stuff, as Jauron so elloquently puts it "We need to get better" at, is NOT going to be fixed by the next game. It's not going to be fixed unil well into the season. The things we're screwing up on is not easy stuff here and there. You don't learn how to execute, tackle, good decision making, and not be a bonehead creating penalties in one preseason game.

We just have too much to fix and too little time. Even Jauron admits he wish he had more time with the team. But it's pathetic for him to say that since most of the training camp was wasted with no pads or easy walk throughs. Whatever this team is not prepared for at the end of the day, the responsibility lies at Jaurons feet. If this team is poorly prepared and cant tackle to save a life, then it's his fault.

Howard Simon bring that up in the interveiw and he says he is confused also!

this time last year no one picked the bills to be competitive or competing for the playoffs and the dolphins were going to the superbowl as far as every expert out there expected.

We may be as bad as we looked last friday or we may not.

The scary thing is he is right......

We need some big bodies at DT that are athletic. The reason the Tampa 2 always worked was becasue Warren Sapp was in the middle of his prime. He was the reason the Tampa 2 worked so well....I think we have probably the bottom 3 defenses in the league. If we dont get pressure to the QB it will be a long year....Next year the Bills should use all 10 picks on the DEFENSE in the draft....In free agency they need to get a top DT on this team. Ellison I like him but only as a backup. Fellas face it, it could be a long year and we just don't want to admit it...

I am sure Marv can find some DT's in the next few weeks but if he dosn't I think the fans and going to be confused on why nothing was done !

Umm, did you guys forget that Anderson batted down a pass one time this preseason?!?!!!!!! Plus I think he is WAY fatter than last year. He will plug up the middle almost as well as he plugs up the lockerroom toilets...

PS Paul Hamilton or not, this year could suck. Or -NEWS FLASH- we could be 8-8.
