Definitely the winter... that was a big factor for me. That and the general lack of confidence in being able to find a good job in the area I'm from, which granted, isn't exactly Buffalo.

Many of my issues with the area pertain more to NY as a whole rather than just Buffalo though.

The drivers, bar none, the drivers here are absolutely retarded sometimes. Speed limits are optional to people, and in the way of meaning it says 45 so I'll go 25. I love being on main roads, in the the left land and being stuck being some idiot doing 10-20 MPH below speed limit.

What also sucks is that I cannot smoke in public places anymore. I feel so discriminated against.

My smoking habit strengthens my lungs against harsher carcinogens already present in our lovely atmosphere. It's like training them in a rigorous workout. Smoking helps me keep my sanity and prevents me from going on a rampage like a disgruntled postal worker.

I didn't touch upon how people have to steer left to make right hand turns. Or people who cut accross three lanes of traffic to make a turn at the very last second. Or how somehow 90/190/290 becomes as gridlocked as 5 or the 105 in LA. People here also have no courtesy while on the road, we can't let someone out of a driveway or business, because then they'd be a full carlength ahead of me to sit at the red light!

An example of this, about a month ago I was driving on Transit RD. The light at wehrle was red, someone went to turn into Teds. The truck behind me apparently wasn't paying full attention so I heard his brakes screech and he swung into the turning lane, missing the turning car thankfully, then proceeded to shout obscentities at me and attempted to spit at my car. Yeah, I pretty much hate drivers here.

I drove down to Charlotte once. West Virginia is an intersting experience and I'll leave it at that. But I'm used to driving in Cleveland traffic where people do 70+ in rush hour bumper to bumper, instead of dealing with doing like 20.

I hardly notice anyone yield the left lane while driving...numerous times I'm going down transit/sheridan/union/walden take your pick and am stuck in the left lane behind some schlep doing 30. And I never leave early to get anywhere so I'm always inevitably late to getting to where I'm going because I got stuck behind some schmoe on my ride. Even if there isn't a lot of traffic on the road. All my friends have now come to the realization that when I say what time I'm getting somewhere it means about 5-10 minutes later. And yes I know I could leave the house a little earlier, but the day I do that is the day where I don't get stuck behind some dope and am early.

I wish my car could be registered in Ohio. PA is so strict with inspections and from what I hear Ohio just makes sure your engine runs. It must be nice :mad:

All Ohio does is an emissions test.

They rev up your engine to certain parameters and check to see if you're polluting the environment too heavily. If not, you pass that part.

Then they make sure your gas cap tightens properly and isn't broken.

The last E-check I did out there, when I lived there, I failed due to my gas cap being faulty. They told me to drive down the street, pick up a new one, show them the receipt and they'd give me the piece of paper.

Basically, if your car doesn't pollute, your car is good to be driven there.
