All through the offseason Buffalo's offensive staff maintained that if rookie quarterback Trent Edwardshttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=5154#) could keep up with the pace of installation in the training camp setting he had a legitimate chance to land the number two quarterback job behind J.P. Losmanhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=5154#).
On Thursday night Edwards took a convincing step closer to landing that job as he went 18-24 passing for 182 yards. Not counting his three kneel downs at the end of the game, Edwards put points on the board on four of the five series he had in the game.

We have issues at some positions but IMO, QB isn't one of them.

This kid shows lots of smarts & ability to keep the offense moving, in case something happens to JP.

And he's kind of hot, so that doesn't hurt my feelings any.

Edwards borderline looked better than JP yesterday. Of course JP was playing against the starters but still.

If pre-season is any indication, the talk of Eswards being a wasted pick should go away.

Edwards looked very good and I am loving the prospect of having him as a backup and pushing Losman. That said, I don't see how you can say he looked "borderline better" than J.P. as Losman was nearly flawless. His one incompletion was actually a 15 - 20 completion on 3rd and long, after all. It was an encouraging night for both our quarterbacks.

Hussy! I'm calling Coy right now! ... Or I would if I had his number... and he actually knew who I was... or who I was talking about.

:sigh: I feel so little.

...but unfortunately won't.

If you want to count completions that didn't happen then you also have to count Edwards long pass to Mayle who dropped it.

Only IF he either becomes a better starter than JP, or he brings a higher pick than what was used on him. The ifs have to be fulfilled first.

Or he fills in for a few games and the team wins........

I don't think that's worth a third-round pick

JP would have been 6 for 6 and almost 75 yards, if the play to Peerless was ruled correctly.

Hard to be better then that, especially considering he had no running game to help him, again.

The completion did happen, and it was a great play.

It was ruled incorrectly.

I don't mind your hate for Losman, but get it right.

The Edwards play was a drop, but it still wasn't a completion. JP completed the pass to Peerless, and based on the replays I saw, it was a great catch.

If it was complete then how come the record books will show that it was incomplete?

So if you want to count plays that didn't happen, it should be ok for other people to count plays that didn't happen.

Yes it was a nice catch by Price. But it still was ruled out of bounds. Which makes it incomplete.

That pass was a thing of beauty too.

i fully support JP as our starting QB.
However, i am glad that IF he doesn't live up to expectations, we are grooming a talented backup who could step up to replace him if the need arose.
