I don't have an NFL almanac handy.

It seems that in the modern era of football, not many teams have gone quite this long without a sniff of the playoffs. Now I will admit Detroit probably has us beat, but does anyone know what the record is for number of consecutive years without a playoff appearance? I think we are 2 years away, if not more...so that will make what, 10 years?

If nothing else, we might get into the record books somehow.

i don't want to be in the record books for that....we're already in the record books for most Super Bowls lost in a row

The Bengals never made the playoffs in the 90s.

WOW! Really?

Yes, I know that we had a good team once upon a time.....so did the Dolphins.

My point is that our recent futility is bordering on a historical feat.

New Orleans had a much longer streak.

I think NO's futility streak was for winning a playoff game, not making the playoffs.

Their 1st season as 1967.

First playoffs were 1987.

Not gonna smash any NFL records soon, but we're about to start abusing our own club record for futility.

Aside from the EXPANSION team Texans - The Bills are the only AFC team to not make the playoffs this decade.

To The Answer - this is the true definition of 'futility'.
