Wow, I thought Culpepper was having a good pre-season?

ESPN said that oakland is being tightlipped about the starter and nothing has been confirmed.

However one of The Answer's bay area affiliates has informed him that Culpepper will be the guy this sunday - if healthy look for Culpepper to have a solid season in the black hole.

Doesn't this belong on the NFL zone?

Kiffin held a press conference wed. and didn't name his starter yet. Just speculation for now.

I'd be shocked if Culpepper didn't start.

Im not shocked, Dante still has a bum knee and McCown has been there longer, understands the offense better, and has the faith of the guys. He may not start much beyond week 1 if he struggles but he's the smart choice right now.

With Russell out, the Raiders' quarterback race has been between Josh McCown and Daunte Culpepper. Head coach Lane Kiffin has declined to publicly identify his starter for Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions, but it appears McCown will get the nod.
