ESPN said that oakland is being tightlipped about the starter and nothing has been confirmed.
However one of The Answer's bay area affiliates has informed him that Culpepper will be the guy this sunday - if healthy look for Culpepper to have a solid season in the black hole.

Im not shocked, Dante still has a bum knee and McCown has been there longer, understands the offense better, and has the faith of the guys. He may not start much beyond week 1 if he struggles but he's the smart choice right now.COMING SOON...

With Russell out, the Raiders' quarterback race has been between Josh McCown and Daunte Culpepper. Head coach Lane Kiffin has declined to publicly identify his starter for Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions, but it appears McCown will get the nod.
