They actually are filling two holes. Michael Gaines was going to be signed today anyways to fill in the hole for cutting Matt Murphy. Murphy was brought back once they lost Everett. I see Simpson and Webster put on IR sometime this week and a new safety brought in, along with a LB.Originally posted by raphael120

Gaines, a 6-4/277 pound behemoth, never met expectations with Carolina. He'll should be Buffalo's third tight end behind Robert Royal and Matt Murphy.Comment

One has to wonder just what it takes to put a guy on IR, as if Gaines is healthy enough to suit up for the Bills this week but the Panthers were set to put him on IR.Comment

They are strong safeties with no NFL experience. The Bills need a free safety to replace Simpson. Wilson is just learning to play defense and, while he played some free safety in college, it's doubtful that the Bills would want to shift Wendling to FS and possibly have him get more confused than he is now (when he is trying to learn how to play SS in the pros).Originally posted by Mahdi
