(Buffalo, NY, September 11, 2007) - - We have some breaking news about the condition of bills tight end Kevin Everett. Doctor Peter Ostrow reports with some hopeful news.
I spoke with Dr. Andy Cappuccino, one of his surgeons, Tuesday, and he was much more optimistic than yesterday. He said Kevin Everett is able to move his arms and legs, a great advance since yesterday.....

This was particularly encouraging, from later on in the article:

And Tuesday, Dr Cappuccino says, "We may be wittnessing a minor miracle." He said that because, today, Kevin Everett was able to voluntarily move his arms and legs, a marked improvement over yesterday. He also noted that the MRI scan taken after the surgery showed only a small amount of swelling in the cord. Those are both good signs.

awesome news! Doctors have been doing a great job...and for a doctor to say it maybe a minor miracle...

They also said about how Ralph Wilson donated almost 2million to the Miami Institute to further research on paralysis and has been one of their biggest supporters, and theyre saying that what goes around comes around that with Ralphs help he in a way made this outcome possible for Everett. Way to go Ralph!

I have to be cautiously optimistic here.

The doc did say there would be extreme peaks and valleys over the next few days.. Lets pray that this peak stays right up there.

Im sorry, but I cant help but to be scared until more time goes by. A little moer than a year ago, my 15 year old nephew had emergency kidney surgery. A hour or so after the surgery he was alert and the docs said he was going better than expected. 15 minutes later LITERALLY he was dead :(

So Im JACKED UP to hear this awesome news; but lets wait a few days before we get too high or low.

(Buffalo, NY September 11, 2007) - - News 4 Medical Reporter Dr. Peter Ostrow says he's learned injured Buffalo Bills Tight End Kevin Everett has voluntary movement of his arms and legs. This is a dramatic improvement over the prognosis given just yesterday at a Buffalo Bills news conference. Orthopedic surgeon Doctor Andrew Cappuccino said Monday that Everett suffered a "catastrophic" life-threatening spinal-cord injury in Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. He said Everett's chances of regaining a full range of body motion were not very likely. But tonight Dr.Ostrow reports Dr. Cappuccino is much more optimistic.

"Based on our experience, the fact that he's moving so well, so early after such a catastrophic injury means he will walk again," said Dr. Barth Green, chairman of the department of neurological surgery at the University of Miami school of medicine.

"It's totally spectacular, totally unexpected," Green told The Associated Press by telephone from Miami.

You know, he could always try to be a coach or a front office position of some sort. Heck, even an announcer or sideline reporter. He can still be in and around the sport he loves, just probably not as a player.

Miami had a kicking coach who was confined to a wheelchair a few years back. Heck, we even had a mentally handicapped head coach named Dave Wannstedt, so Kevin has all kinds of options!

Only if you beware that when you are dieing, don't treat yourself with any of those pills/medications/treatments that science has provided for us (you know, the ones that Kevin was exposed to during this). Simply put your faith in God to heal you.

Again, I'm an Athiest (Realist) and this is what we believe in our lives.

Seriously though, just be happy for Kevin and his family at this stage of everything and keep your religious/political views to yourself.

From the people who quickly got him onto an ambulance to the doctors that worked him and everyone in between, I would like to say WONDERFUL JOB. The efficient work Everett received not only saved his life, but apparently will allow him to live as close to a normal life as one possibly could after a serious spine injury. Again, wonderful job!
