After seeing the names first thing I thought was "YaY we signed more depth guys to go with the depth guys we have starting now!" Although I wasn't expecting us to bring in anyone who'd start, but was hopeful we'd bring in a starting safety to replace Simpson and not a depth guy.

must be saving money to sign a LB but Scott has good size for the S postion and was a former 2nd round pick from Penn State so he has some talent, hopefully will be good on ST, at least the DE has more potential than Eric Powell, he made the PS twice for the Bears and they are loaded at DE, so i like that signing

if the bills are offering to TRADE for someone as Pat said they were workin on, we could be trying to get a decent safety.

So McGee and Youboty is starting at CB. That's fine, it's time to see what that kid can do. Can't be any worse than Webster, and Youboty had 2 seasons with our scheme so I don't see how anyoen else coming right in would be any better.

Safety on the other hand, I'm not feelin too hot about this. Safety was supposed to be our strong point on defense, now it's going to be another weakness.

So now we have weaknesses at DT, LB, CB, S. We're in trouble.

I've noticed something about shelling out loads of cash for big name FA's

Most times thier starting to head towards the end of thier career. The team may get a couple of good seasons out of the FA but really your paying for a big name.

Sometimes signing a guy that most people never heard of might be a good thing. A young guy with talent obviously he has some talent or the teams would not even offer him a contract. I mean it's not the bills are banging down any of our doors with a contract in hand. So who knows?

Now go ahead and call me a dumb or a homer i don't care. Like i said it's not like the bills are banging down anyones' door here to sign them.

You do know that the difference between SS and FS are not that significant in Cover 2, correct?

Please name the FS' you would have signed.

I would like to be shocked that people are having a **** fit over players signed during the regular season as injury replacements. Like it or not, there are not Pro Bowl guys out there.

The over-reaction by some is kinda pathetic.

Some people should be slapped with warning points or being banned for posting Holcomb is god over and over and over....trent edwards is the saviour over and over.

On top of not knowing a player on the team that you're supposedly a fan of and posting on their message board is on the active roster and not the practice squad.

Wasn't the main reason used by most on this board that we shouldn't sign Darius is because he was a Strong Safety and we already had Whinter?

I seem to remember that being used to refute Darius being signed a good thing for us.

My question is, why do we have as many healthy safeties and TE (5) on this roster as LB's?

Ok, so...no one sees that we lost THREE ------STARTERS----- on Sunday.

Ko, Ellison, and Webster.

We're replacing them with our backups and camp fodder from other teams. Nah, no need to be upset or anything. We'll be good with the basement scraps that we like to call our defense. Not to mention Webster and Ellison were sore excuses for starters to begin with.

You'll see why people are making a big deal of this when we get blown out of the game this Sunday and the week after at the Pats.

Well I think we were screwed even before all these injuries happened. But they couldve signed someone other than Jason "Injury Prone all my career" Webster. Maybe focused more on other positions than TE. All other teams only have 1 FB. Why would we need more than 1 TE to play the FB position? We only need 3 other TE's other than that. There is NO NEED for 5 TEs, no need for 5 RB's either. You're telling me Josh Scobey is worth a crap on this team? That thats one of our big pressing free agent signings?

I don't think its only this recent development that pisses people off, but the culmination of stupid moves by the FO that have got us to this.

Not to try and end the juvenile overreaction that is currently taking place in this thread, but Id actually like to talk about the signings not just jump off the nearest bridge. Now having seen Scott actually play week in and week out (raise your hand if anybody else has?) when he was in Atlanta, I can tell you that Scott's biggest issue was that he just wasnt reading plays well. The guy is a great tackler and solid in reading run, but he just tends to fail in pass coverage. Its not to say he's horrible at it, he just needs to work at recognition. It may have been Atlanta scheme when he was there (bc the coaching staff was atrocious) and maybe the Cover 2 will be easier for him. All I know is that the kid has skills, he played well at Penn State and he can play some CB too. So he may be used as a backup for S and CB. I have not seen Copeland play any unfortunatley. EE you got anything on this guy?

Oh and sorry to interupt the mass suicide over the Bills signing two guys, please continue overreacting and posting before thinking thank you.

I'm sure he could swing trades for Bob SANDERS, DeMeco RYANS, and Aaron KAMPMAN on the CHEAP, and convince them all to sign for the VET MINIMUM. The way I SEE it, when your starters GET hurt, back-UPS play, and those back-UPS are naturally not as GOOD as the STARTERS they ARE replacing, otherwise they would be starting and not BE back-ups. But, honestly, WEBSTER is a SCRUB, so I don't see any issues replacing him with a "scrub." Jimmy didn't play too BADLY against Denver(for a "scrub), and Haggans played...DECENTLY. Maybe he's not as "scrubby" AS we THOUGHT? Who knows? They're probably STILL evaluating WEBSTER, and IF/when he GOES on IR, we'll PROBABLY sign SOME one else.

Definitely my finest post ever, and it has everything to do with a different font and random capilitzation. Amazing how effective it is! Pat's probably steamed because they didn't sign Griesen as he "guarenteed" they would....

Ellison was THE BEST LB at camp and other than one game was arguably the best LB at preseason too. If you're calling him questionable to begin with then why arent you *****ing about Crowell and POZ?

There's no debating with someone who's as clueless as you. Again read before you start yapping about the team. Hiring 2 TE to replace Everrett is proof enough you are clueless.

So what would you do? Sign some one? They wouldn't be ready immediately: it'd take them a few weeks to learn the playbook, in all likelihood. I'm willing to trust the coaches on this over your opinion, no offense. If Jimmy doesn't work out, maybe Wendling or Wilson will. In fact, I remember a 6th-round pick playing far beyond his draft status last year....
