NEW YORK -- New England (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nwe) coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for videotaping an opponent's offensive and defensive signals.
Commissioner Roger Goodell also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't.

honestly im surprised there was no suspension, as that seemed like the only possibility to me, but i guess this would suffice...... although i wonder what would happen if bill interprets the rules differently some other time

Not to happy with that! The fine I'm okay with, that will hurt the pocketbook, the pick(s) I am also happy about but I would have also like to have seen a suspension. Anyone have any info as to what happened with all the helmet audio stuff?

I'd laugh my ass off if their extra 1st or 3rd picks pulled an Eli Manning on them. :snicker:
