The player has to have been playing at a high level when he left so Thurman doesn't count, same with Reed. Let's say trades count as well.

I'll start by saying Nate Clements. He shut down some of the best WRs in the NFL last year. And watching him on monday he did really well against Fitzgerald and Boldin who are really tough to cover.

Whoever just left. My memory isn't that good, so it's gotta be someone recent.

I was considering PW. The man stuffs the run on his own. Minn should just play with PW and 6 LBs.

Coo. That means that other guy Pat plays w/, that insignificant other Williams, will become available? That'll solve a lot of the Bills' problems then when they sign him.

The old timers will remember DE Ron McDole. He was supposedly washed up, then went to the Redskins and 4-5 more Pro Bowls, just dominating. I was so pissed at Wilson.

Obviously Kevin is a beast too, but their run D became #1 when Pat got there.

same here. The thing about NAte is that he isn't worth 80 million but Pat would've been worth every penny.

In recent memory, Fat Pat without a doubt.

Another that jetted for the Vikes is Winfield, but like Clements, he wasnt worth the asking price. But I liked the way he played, interceptions king or not, and he never seemed to get hurt.

maybe not the best. .But Nate is the most valuable.

There is no way we lose last week if Nate's playing, and that's one game.

Not to say we shoulda gave him 80 million.. bills did what they had to do.

BUt forget numbers, he takes WR's away more times than not. This team has NOTHING like that now.. nothing

Will Wilford.

I'll go with this one, although Rashad is damn close.

His name was Bobby Moore?

Yeah, before he found Islam as his religion his given name was Bobby Moore.
As a Bill, he was still Bobby Moore, if memory serves me correctly.

He was the 4th overall pick in the 1972 draft by the St Louis Cardinals, played there 2 years, came here for a season, then went on to a make a name for himself in the NFL as a Viking.

A few I was thinking of besides Pat Williams were Doug Flutie (hey, say what you want but he remained productive for several years after we let him go....which is more than can be said for the crap we did have here at QB) Ted Washington (at least last seaon, dude was STILL playing at a high level!) and MAYBE....Travis Henry.

I'd go with Wilford over Joe D just because Wolford was entering his prime while Joe D was past his prime. Not sure if Joe D was traded or was a free agent though.

if we kept the guys we lost to minni we'd be a much much better team and still under the cap this season.

with big pat and antoine we'd be middle of the pack on D.

Actually, I think he was Bobby Moore in St Louis, and his named changed just before coming to Buffalo.

I'd have to say it's a toss-up between him and Will Wolford.

If trades count, Ron McDole has to be up there.

Joe Cribbs left as free agent to go to the USFL in 1984. The Bills were non-competitive without him.
Half the guys in this thread did not leave as free agents, some were traded, some were cut-neither should count.
