Ask, and ye shall receive.

On the video scoreboard thread, a reader wondered what the installation of a new high-definition system in HSBC Arena would mean for Sabres telecasts this season. The reader theorized that an HD scoreboard wouldn't be of any use without HD cameras and the other equipment that would be compatible with producing broadcasts.

So I had the chance to ask around at the arena today, and learned the Sabres will televise their home games only in HD. Although road games will remain in standard definition for now, more and more away dates will be upgraded in future seasons.

Just so I'm clear, MSG will be in HD for Sabres home games?

Yeah, this will all depend on your providers... not just the team.

NHL Center Ice on Time Warner down here doesn't come in HD, despiste my endless *****ing to them that it should. Some places get Center Ice in HD, here is not one of them though. The same would apply to MSG, it will all depend on whether or not your service provider carries MSG in HD or not.

I'm actually squeezing this in between some work here and there!

But no, they won't, at least not now they don't.
