Actually, I afford him a handicap because he obviously has astoundingly incompetent play-calling. With Fairchild in the booth calling the plays and handcuffing the QB, it doesn't matter whose under center. Well, unless it was Tedy Bruschi...

I am the biggest homer there is but please realize this kid has been playing ball at some level in the NFL for 4 years. Deer in headlights type play was ok 2 years ago, sad last year and unacceptable this year. Maybe you need to make some more excuses about why he cannot throw a screen pass or a 15 yard pass. When you have like 10 seconds to find someone open or run it and you do neither, you need to be benched.:horror:

Losman threw exactly one screen pass last week against Pit. It was in fact the only screen pass that was called and therefore the only one that was thrown. The pass was complete for 20+yards. The screen pass works just fine, the playcalling not so much. If you want to criticize Losman for his dear in head lights look I'm right there with ya, holding the ball too long, ditto, high passes that could have resulted in monster hits on the receivers, yup, but not for the screen pass, that play worked to perfection.

I have always been a huge JP supporter, but the play calling in the first 2 games makes me wonder how much confidence the coaching staff has in him.

I was *****ing about him at halftime Sunday, and my wife said, "Boy, you can really change in a hurry." I said, "I've supported the guy for 3 years and 1 1/2 games."

And I'll be honest. I'm not sure he's the answer anymore.

Jan, it doesn't matter if he's the answer right now. With everyone else's performance (minus Lynch) the way they are, this team just has to get through the season. I can't wait for the draft! :up:

I doubt anyone can confirm this but based on JP's comments waiting for Fairchild to open up the playbook, it's seems that every play is called by Fairchild.

Well Id assume that but my question pertains to JP's inability to check out of a play or call for a simple hot route, I mean HS QB's are allowed to do this, the first post seemed to indicate that JP is restricted from doing so by the coaching staff, not that he just doesnt do it.

IMO, JP is playing the role of a good soldier, but we don't need more soldiers, we need a ****ing leader here. For once and during the next game, if the coach calls a play, and he thinks it is not a good one or a proper call, he should change it just to show them that he can handle the job, and that he is ready for the challenge. No more babysitting the guy, please!!!

Jan,you're one of the most respected JP supporters on here and i wonder the same thing with the coaching staff.

you've had more patience than i did.i wasn't high on Losman to begin with because i felt we needed to address other areas of the team before we made a pitch on a QB that we could look to as our future.

i felt that the OL addition would have this kid leading our offense to the upper tier in the NFL.
