    falcons moves....Andersen and Leftwich sign!

A disappointing loss in Jacksonville might be the flashpoint to the Atlanta Falcons signing ex-Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich, sources said Monday.

falcons sign morten andersen and are possibly going after byron leftwich

A disappointing loss in Jacksonville might be the flashpoint for the Atlanta Falcons signing ex-Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Monday.

The Falcons were meeting with Leftwich on Monday night to determine whether they want to sign the former Jaguars quarterback, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the Falcons again are turning to Morten Andersen to solve their kicking woes. One day after Matt Prater missed two field goals in the Falcons' 13-7 loss to the Jags, the Falcons cut him and signed the 47-year-old Andersen.
Andersen, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFL's career scoring leader with 2,445 points, is also the Falcons' leader with 707. He was Atlanta's kicker from 1995-2000 before coming back for a second stint with the team last year.
Andersen was 20-for-23 in field-goal attempts in 14 games with the Falcons last season, including 7-for-8 from 40 to 49 yards.

    Re: falcons moves....

Was just about to post these this morning. Being a fan of the Falcons as my 2nd team since I live in Atlanta my dad and I watched the game on Sunday and as soon as Prater missed that second kick, I looked at him and said well somebody is on the phone with Morten right now.

Also I dont know that Leftwich will do anything to help this team, shocking as it may be Joey Harrington has played well since being here he just has no OL, no running game, and no defense.

Anderson is still kicking after all of these years.

Sadly the problem hasnt been Joey Harrington in Atlanta but rather the putrid OL and non existent running game.
