    lets examine trent edwards

now i was behind this guy as a backup on this team.

HOWEVER RECENT EVENTS OF THIS BOARD AND MEDIA WILL NOW MAKE ME DISECT WHAT EDWARDS WAS IN COLLEGE AS THIS IS LAUGHABLE!!!!!

YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
    2004 149 274 1732 54.4 6.32 76 9 11 19 110.29
    2005 168 268 1934 62.7 7.22 49 17 7 30 139.01
    2006 94 156 1027 60.3 6.58 48 6 6 22 120.55

now qb rating in college is WAY different the on pros

these stats for a college QB are in fact horrific i dont care he was on a bad or avg team so is JP so lets call a spade a spade

    2004 4-7
    2005 5-6
    2006 1-11

he looked like he really improved through his college career

that 1-11 during his senior year was BLOODY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i dont care he got hurt its still bloody amazing

all this being said its not trents fault bills fan are more tired of losing then anything we all are but people get your facts str8 its not like we have even close to a top prospect on our bench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good points, bro I agree. Edwards has the potential to do something for the Bills but people are still waaaay over hyping this guy. The cold hard fact is that pretty much any QB could out play Losman, atm. I guess the only way we'll know for sure is after the bye week when he makes his first start.

      Re: lets examine trent edwards

Whatever he did in college to not make him a top prospect is besides the point. From what I saw in pre-season, he looked like he had better pocket awareness than JP which is something you look for in a rookie. He also has better touch on his throws.
I'm not eager to see JP fail. On the contrary, I'd rather see him explode. However, if he continues to struggle with making decisions in the passing game, we have to start thinking about giving Edwards a look. I think we are at least a few games away from that.
If we're 2-8 going into week 12 and JP is playing inconsistently, then I would say it's time.

If we are 0-5 at the bye, it's time.

Why wait until game 12? Give Edwards some god damn NFL experience! Cause **** we might have to draft another QB this offseason.

We don't want him to be our savior. We just want to see a SMALL level of competency out of the QB position. JP ISNT getting it done at all, not even a little bit.

It doesn't matter what Edwards did in college...once he made the team, the slate was wiped clean.

                  How'd Losman do in college?

Going by college stats. I guess we can pencil Troy Smith into the Hall of Fame.

While your point is a good one we can also not just completely forget his college stats when looking at how he may potentially play.

I think some people have convinced themselves Edwards is the next Brady. A hope born of frustration, and years of futility from the QB psosition.

Unfortunatly I think they are just setting themselves up for more dissapointment.

This team has a whole lot of issues. We need to fix more than the curret problems. Throwing an untested rookie into this mix right now will wreck him.

                        LOL

Point taken. It's amazing how people, once again, buy into the entirely opinionated notions as to how good someone's going to be for some reason such as Bill Walsh said so.

Here are Edwards' game logs from last year, his senior year, which is supposed to be his best:

People here talk themselves into believing a load of tripe constantly. Then just like Bledsoe, Holcomb, Losman, it comes to this, right where we are now.

You've gotta admit though that his senior year games against the big teams was very impressive. Of course that's using Levy and Jauron's methods of doing business.
