Wilfork Once Had His Bags Packed For Buffalo

New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork thought he was coming to Buffalo in the 2004 draft, and he couldn’t wait to get here.

“They flew me up to take a visit before the draft, and it was like I’m living a dream,” the New England Patriots’ defensive tackle said. “I grew up a big Bills fan. I told them how I loved the Bills. I thought I was going to Buffalo.”
    The Bills strongly considered Wilfork.

In fact, he was No. 1B on their list. No. 1A was Lee Evans with the 13th overall pick, and Evans has developed into a star receiver. Wilfork has not done badly, either. MORE

I'm wondering how much different things would be if we went that way instead. Maybe our defense would be dominant.... who knows?

Hard to criticize Evans. If it wasnt for Losman AND a bad coaching staff, I think he'd be a premier player in the league.

That being said, no doubt if we had a REAL DT this defense would be a hell of a lot different.

Plus the fact that he was a Bills fan and was looking forward to coming here. That makes things interesting too.....

Some writers in papers have been known to read the Zone and then write their articles not even giving the Zone a thank you.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. This isn't even a debate. We got Lee Evans instead who is an awesome wide receiver, hands down. Maybe if we had drafted someone who was a bust instead we could be sitting here wondering why we didn't get Wilfork.

on the Bills WRs without Lee Evans.

We'd have Josh Reed and PP as the starting WRs.

You build the interior of your lines first and foremost. For some reason Donahoe didn't get that. Letting Pat Williams go was the single biggest mistake by this franchise since......well, since they let Ted Washington go. Moronic moves IMO.
