Keep or trade? And if you trade, how far down are you willing to move (If there is a dance partner, no guarentee there)

Take the best player on the board. Period.

Trade later.

We need a bruce smith replacement to sit in our opponents backfield all day. This letting the QB do want they want to us sh*it has to stop.

I want someone that likes blood and the QB's fear, bad things.

It's week 4 and this is seriously being discussed.

how can you not discuss it with the way they have played coupled with all the injuries? This is a very realistic possibility. I have always been on the homer side, but come on.

I would say it based on how theyre playing on offense WITHOUT all the injuries, not the defense!

I would definitely say to trade it down.

In most years the best player from the top 5 or 6 is not clear cut.
After the top 10 or 12 there is usually a big drop off in the rate of success when it come to finding an impact player.

So in general I would trade it down but no farther than the 10 or 12.

In the Bills case next year I would not trade it down any further than guaranteeing an impact WR or TE.

Because this receiving core the Bills have is one of the weakest I've ever seen.

I'd trade down for a few more picks. They need help in plenty of spots and the #1 pick won't help the overall team. Not to mention how much a #1 pick demands in salary.

do you actually trust this FO to find that guy though? I don't.

I say trade down and let some other idiot franchise throw big bucks at an unproven player.

I think one thing we can give the FO credit for is drafting. They have done well with most of our picks in the past year or so.

Or at least I've been somewhat pleased with the first couple picks. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they got to the later rounds but what do I know.

It really depends on who's available I guess... I'll admit I haven't really studied the upcoming draft prospects. Unless there is a clear cut top guy though, I'm alright with us trading down a few positions to get some more picks, so long as there is somebody considered a top level pick in a position of need (on 2nd though, what position isn't of need for us at this point? :() for us that should still be available.

I say Keep it. It's fine to say trade down, but most years teams don't want to give up the farm for the first pick overall.

One of the most hyped college prospects in a while is leaving school early in Darren McFadden so I think trading down is a very real shot if we get #1 overall. You could see a deal very close to ATL/SD deal where its multiple 1sts, 3rd, and players to get the #1 overall. If we end up with #1 overall we trade it to whoever gives us the best deal, but there will be a trade.

You try and trade down and get some value for it, and snag Glenn Dorsey or a top receiver a few picks down. If you can't, just suck it up, I guess....

Trade down and get three or four more picks. This team has too many needs (WR, TE, DL, LB, CB) to be filled. I think the more picks we can get the better we are. Plus I don't completely trust the FO to make the right decision, and especially pay a #1 or #2 guy. Plus keep in mind that yes a team who hits the #1 pick can make their franchise a winner for a decade (Indy and Cincinatti w/ Palmer), but it can also ruin a franchise for years: look at Cleveland and Houston recently. I'd rather trade down get a slew of picks that can hopefully turn out.

Aint gonna draft a Bruce Smith-like DE thanks to our FO who decided to guarentee $34 million to a pair of DE's that are one dimensional and suck against the run.

$34 mill is too much to just eat.

Was Marv the HC in Buffalo when Bruce was drafted?

What SHOULD they do? Draft either Brohm or Dorsey; depending on how Edwards looks (bye bye Losman 27 starts later you've showed me enough)

What WILL they do? Probably trade down I dont see Ralph Wilson paying franchise money to a rookie ever again.

No, Bruce was drafted in 85. Marv didn't arrive until late 1986.

After the Bills finished 1-13 in 1971 while giving up 28 points per game, the Bills drafted Walt Patulski, a DT from Notre Dame who in 1971 won the Lombardi Award for best lineman and finished ninth in the Heisman voting. He never amounted to more than an average defensive lineman in the NFL.

Since Peyton Manning was drafted first overall in 1998, the first overall picks have been Courtney Brown, Michael Vick, David Carr, Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, Alex Smith, Mario Williams, and JaMarcus Russell. Some good, some not so good.

You can never tell just how well someone is going to translate from college football to the NFL.

I'd rather see us trade down for multiple picks. This team has so many holes to fill that one highly paid stud (who Ralph wouldn't be willing to pay anyway) isn't going to cut it.

Then maybe you get the 5th pick and that teams 2nd and 3rd rounder?? If so, That might end up equaling something good. Can someone please break down how it normally goes, thanks??

Only once in the last 10 years(2001 San Diego) has the team with the No.1 overall pick traded down..The Bills will more than likely have to keep the No.1 overall pick

And look how well it worked out for SD.

If the Bills were smart and had the #1 pick, trading down would be the best bet.

Then again, I don't expect the Bills to be smart or do the right thing.

I agree.. Ideally it would be best to trade down a few spots..Hard to find dance partners though

Who is desperate for Brohm?

Although I'd like to see him in Buffalo, I'm wary of using a #1 pick on a QB.

We just drafted Edwards early, that would make no sense.

Edwards may or may not be the QB of the future. Brohm looks like he will be the real deal for sure. It would be foolish to pass on him for the slight chance that our third rounder might end up being good.

The top 5 picks usually all look real but as mentioned earlier, sometimes they pan out & sometimes they don't.

I don't know enough about all the college players yet so I'll defer to Draftboy but from what I've heard/seen Brohm will be the real deal.

If we are looking at QB's I like Brohm, but I think Matt Ryan out of BC is the real deal also. I saw him carve up a pretty decent Georgia Tech team a couple of weeks ago. I don't think he is a clear #1, but he is big, accurate and has a strong arm. Plus he doesn't have the weapons Brohm has but he is putting up big numbers in a very strong ACC conference.

It's too bad that they overpaid to so-so DE's because there is a pretty good one in Miami.

Mmmm. If we end up stuck at #1, it'll likely be because we couldn't find anyone to trade with...but hopefully Brohm and McFadden can help that out a little...

I really don't think Brohm is going to be that great. I agree with whoever it was that said Matt Ryan would be a top QB to have. I've been much more impressed with his play then Brohm's. That being said, I think it really depends on who ends up with the #1 as to who will go first.

They already have one in the backfield. Now they just have to give him the ball more.

I would love to get the 1st pick, trade down to 3 or so, get Dorsey and plethora of other picks and/or players.

Having a first, 2 high 2nd's, 2 high and one middle 3rd would be dreamy.

He dont trade down and get more ROLE or DECENT players. God knows we got plenty of them.

THis franchise needs a STAR.. a DIFFERENCE MAKER.

As far as a QB going first. Who really needs a QB next year. Minn., Jax, STL, Chicago, Det., and KC.
Then you would have to make them believe you were taking Brohm. Or one of them would have to be desperate enough to want to jump one of the other teams.

Im all for dropping down to 5 or 6 since a C Johnson or Bruce Smith arent likely this year. 5 first day picks would go well to help this franchise. And maybe throw in a first for next year. Money.
We have to start replacing the Leonards, Kelsays, Prices, and Whittles with real players.
We have a start with Edwards, Lynch, Evans, Whitner, Poz.
We should draft
Stud D Lineman (End or DT)
TE
C
LB
Corner

Draftboy.

IF Atlanta gets the number one pick, I'll lay you ridiculous odds that pick is Brian Brohm.. Are you kidding me with Petrino as the Falcons coach and their mess of a QB situation; you dont think Petrino would take Brohm?

Take a quick look everyone at the prime candidates for the #1 overall pick..
Atlanta- They may sign Brohm the day he declares himself eligible.
Buffalo- Brohm or Dorsey, depending on how Edwards looks this year, or Losman if he gets another shot.
Miami- Tough call. I'd say Dorsey.
Oakland- I would def see them taking McFadden
NO- LOL they aint finishing with worst record.
Chiefs- Another tough call, too early to tell.
Rams- to much talent to not win at least 5 games.

HOnestly, I think Buffalo and Miami and Atlanta are the real three contenders. Whoever wins (or losses depending on how you look at it) in their headsup matchups could determine the top pick.. Then again, Atlanta is a mess.

Oakland and KC I think will win 4 games or more. I dont see Buffalo or Miami doing that.

Trade down. We now have, hopefully, a marquee player on offense with Lynch and one on defense with Poz.

We need extra picks and could pick up a few from the #1 spot, but I'd be willing to sacrifice a couple of extra choices for a proven vet, especially on defense, if the scenario presented itself.

if that were to happen,Lynch may not get the bulk of the carries but he could rack up some serious receptions.that could be a scary young combo as well.

Sample scenario: Trade down with Arizona, who will likely be interested in McFadden, and take BPA at a need position (WR, DT, DE despite Schobel and Kelsay) wherever Zona is...I'm guessing 4-8. That should get us plenty of valuable picks this year and next.
The more picks, the merrier. It doesn't matter where we trade as long as the price is right and the right players are available.

I'd trade down for a few more picks. They need help in plenty of spots and the #1 pick won't help the overall team. Not to mention how much a #1 pick demands in salary.

If there's a great QB as the #1 overall, TAKE HIM.

Peyton Manning, John Elway, Drew Bledsoe, ... all #1 picks who took their teams to Super Bowls

Carson Palmer, Vinny Testaverde, Michael Vick, Alex Smith, Eli Manning... all #1 picks who changed their team for the better.

Franchise QB's don't fall off trees, and I don't think Edwards/Losman are taking us to the promised land.

Ralph opened up his wallet in the 90's quite a bit, so if he likes a player in particular this draft then I'm sure he will sign him.

Opening your wallet in the 90's and opening your wallet now is a whole lot different. Now we're talking hundreds of millions not hundreds of thousands or a few million, and frankly I just don't think he'd be willing to pay someone that much cash.

Actually more around 60 million, maybe 25 million or so guaranteed, that price range. Affordable.
