Quarterback - Trent Edwards made his first career start and managed the game like a seasoned veteran. He made great passes on 3rd down to move the chains. The one interception he threw was a beautiful pass, but the defender made a great play on the ball. He looked calm all day, especially on the 4th and goal touchdown that he threw.
Grade: A
Running Back - Lynch was impressive and made the plays when the offense needed him to. He never goes down on the first hit and runs with a chip on his shoulder. His touchdown run was just pure strength and determination, which was a showcase of his talent and character as he didnt give up until he scored. This guy is the real deal.
Grade: B
Wide Recievers -Lee Evans finally realized this week he plays for the Bills as he showed up for today's game, hauling in 6 passes for 72 yards. Josh Reed has a big day as well as he was the recipient of many 3rd and short passes converting them into first downs. He did drop a key pass late inthe 4th quarter though. Roscoe Parrish is a play maker. Peerless Price was quiet, but did have a nice first down grab.
Grade: A-
Tight Ends - Wow, the Bills have tight ends! Robert Royal actually caught 3
passes, and the backup Michael Gaines caught the game winning touchdown pass. Royal was used alot in motion to set up blocks all game and did a pretty good job.
Grade: B
Offensive Line - Gave up a couple of sacks early, but played extremely well in the second half. They made some big holes for Lynch considering the Jets were run blitzing like crazy the entire game. The Peters and Dockery combo looks as if it's starting to gel.
Grade: B+
Defensive Line - Schobel was a beast today. Altough he didnt register a sack he was in the backfield all day, and caused 2 holding penalties against him. Chris Kelsay had a nice sack. Larry Tripplett was again invisible and wasn't on the field as much as he has been lately. Tim Anderson was beaten bad on Leon Washington's touchdown run. When ever he is on the field, the defense plays worse. They held Thomas Jones to 35 yards. Overall, it was a solid effort that was well overdue.
Grade: B+
Linebackers - Angelo Crowell had a nice game, but was out of position on many of the Jets short passes. Mario Haggan had a beautiful stop on a 3rd and short play. The more playing time he gets, the better he's going to be because he certainly has made some nice plays this season. Jon DiGiorgio was quiet with 2 tackles, was blown out of run plays was beaten a few times in coverage. He is a liability on this defense.
Grade: C
Secondary - Terrence McGee was back in the lineup and made the game clinching interception with 6 seconds left. He did give up the lone passing touchdown to Coles. Youboty went out early with an ankle injury, and Jabari Greer had a game changing interception that led to a TD. He is really becoming a solid corner this season. Leonhard and Whitner were sound in coverage as there wasn't many big passing plays allowed all day. A very gutsy effort by a injury depleated group.
Grade: B
Special Teams: Lindell hit a nice 46 yard field goal to give the Bills a lead in the 3rd quarter. Moorman was his usual self punting the ball very well. McGee wasn't himself on kick returns today, part of it might be due to his injury. Parrish is a threat to score every time he fields a punt.
Grade: B
Coaching - Finally the Bills had a solid game plan. They didn't scale down the offense too much for the rookie Quarterback and their confidence in him paid off. Case and point was going for it on 4th and goal, and throwing the football. The defensive game plan was to give up the short pass and defend deep and it worked well all day. Coach Jauron got the players to play together this week as one whole unit.
