    Holmes under the knife

Chiefs | Holmes Under the Knife - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
14:06 PT: Adam Teicher reports for the Kansas City Star Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes (hip) had arthroscopic hip surgery in Miami on Tuesday. He was expected to return to Kansas City Tuesday night. Coach Dick Vermeil indicated the visit was arranged long ago as part of Holmes' rehabilitation process. "They took an MRI, and it just looked like this procedure needed to be done," Vermeil said from Phoenix. "It's just like going in to remove scar tissue from a knee that's been operated on. It will help the process." Vermeil added Holmes' injury should not be compared to Bo Jackson's, which is good news. Vermeil said the surgery would push Holmes' rehab schedule back at least four to six weeks.

    UPDATE

Chiefs star Priest Holmes had hip surgery and is expected to be running at full speed in June.
Holmes, the NFL's offensive player of the year, underwent arthroscopic surgery in Miami on Tuesday. The 29-year-old running back missed the last two games of the season. Coach Dick Vermeil, speaking Wednesday from the NFL meetings in Phoenix, said Holmes will be on crutches for about four weeks and miss minicamp. "But I am told he'll be able to run full speed by June, and that's what we're counting on," he said.
