The heartbreaking insanity of Monday night’s finish fails to obscure that the time has come. There is no controversy, only opportunity; no need to ponder, just a call to act. At least five NFL teams are in dire need of a quarterback, a young quarterback, someone who might grow into the position. If General Manager Marv Levy does his job that list will soon be reduced to four.

It’s unforeseeable there will ever be a better time for the Bills to unload J.P. Losman and make an emphatic commitment to the Trent Edwards era. Edwards is their guy. He’s the one with the uncanny field vision and a general’s knack for leadership. He’s their future, their bright, promising future, and there’s no sense in leaving Losman to hang around to rue what might have been.

It’s Losman’s misfortune that his knee was hurt when it was, which opened the door for Edwards, who has made himself right at home. Perhaps J.P. would have taken hold of the job once and for all if good health had been on his side. But what’s done is done. Just like Depew’s Don Majkowski, unseated in Green Bay by Brett Favre, and just like Drew Bledsoe, displaced in New England by Tom Brady, Losman has fallen victim to an injury that proved the backup should be the starter. And now it’s in the best interests of Losman and the franchise if he carries on elsewhere...........

78.1%?? OMG that is unreal. You ever been to a high school game? You have to throw like 100% perfect passes to get 60% of them caught normally, think about it.

The body of work Edwards compiled at Los Gatos High School outside San Jose, Calif., bordered on perfection. He was 26-0 as a starter. As a junior he completed an unfathomable 78.1 percent of his passes, a state record. For his career he made good on 74.1 of his throws, another state mark. Consider that the conference record for career passing percentage had been 63.3 percent and held by Marty Mornhinweg, offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles. In the championship game of his junior season Edwards went 11 for 11.

The Panthers, Falcons, Bears, 49ers, Rams and 'Fins could all use JP right now.

but are those teams really looking to trade for a QB midseason to learn their playbook? Those teams would rather fight it out for a draft pick and get their real guy than someone else's leftovers. No way any of those teams give a draft choice to us.

Trade him to the fins for their first rounder, it will be the first pick in the draft. That way we can have the 1st & the 3rd pick and load up our team with more young talent.

We'll know how to sack JP all the time as well, just head towards the sideline, he'll be scrambling that way with Miami's line. I really don't think that any QB could stay healthy in Miami right now either way.

Atlanta needs a QB and they have a CB that has burned out his welcome. Unfortunately I'm not sure we need another CB.

Trading JP makes sense. Time to move on.

No way any of those teams give a draft choice to us.well Atlanta signed Leftwhich and that doesn't seem to be working out so cross him off the list but if the Bulger injury turns out worse than originally seems they could use JP....same with the 49ers in that case Alex Smith.....Cleo Lemon? Cleo Lemon...enough said....Panthers could end up starting an UDFA Matt Moore (Oregon St.) if David Carr blows it or gets injured and the Bears have Rex Grossman, Brian Griese and Kyle Orton as their QBs enough said.

People are out signing Trent Dilfer and tim Rattay.

Everyone has to admit JP is ALOT better than those guys.
