This team has had multiple opportunities to make itself better quickly through free agency and has not done enough to improve the teams fortunes.

This past offseason, we had ample opportunity to sign players who could make this team much better. Adalius Thomas is a great example. That player would have instantly made the LB corp better. Its not like we didnt have enough question marks at LB to need some insurance. Yet, we completely skipped the LB position in the offseason relying on the draft. Thats fine if you want your team to be built from the ground up, but if your allowing your homegrown prospects to leave (Nate Clements), then you are perpetually trying to replace players. Furthermore, you can constantly expect some starters to play like what they are, rookies. Its more than plausible to think that we would be much better if we had added a few vets on the DL, LB corp, and secondary. Its not like we dont have the money considering we STILL are around 15 mill under the cap.

One key comment stands out in my mind before the season started. It was when Jauron said the team is better than they were last year. Thats just plain wrong and the record and stats show it. This is flawed thinking that goes all the way to the top. This team has overvalued its players for almost a decade. It continues to think its better than it is. To put it another way, we are not capable of evaluating our talent, or we are not capable of making a strong enough case to spend money for better players.

Can this team be more than it is? Absolutely, and they showed it on Monday night. But why do we have to be the world biggest underdogs all the time? A simple change in approach from conservative to aggressive in all phases of the offseason can make a world of change on this team. Aggressively attack free agency and bring in the best players out there. Aggressively resign your own players that have high market value. Aggressively move up or down in the draft to get players that make you better now.

Instead, the braintrust try's to rely mostly on bargain basement young vets, rookies, and a ton of luck.

Well, Ralph, Marv, and Dick, until you break the cycle history will continue to repeat itself.

If the problem is that you dont trust yourselves to not make big mistakes on players like McGahee, Rob Johnson, Erik Flowers, and Mike Williams, then it sounds like your first step is to get people that are much smarter and better than you at getting the job done.

A game, maybe even a season can be lost by a player or players. A decade is lost by ownership and the front office.

I don't have a problem with the way they handle the draft, but their free agent choices certainly leave room to be desired.

Jesus did we not criticize the FO enough when the good FA's were signing elsewhere talk about a dead horse.
