NHL suspends Flyers' Boulerice 25 games

National Hockey League disciplinarian Colin Campbell has handed Flyers forward Jesse Boulerice (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=58) a 25-game suspension for cross-checking Vancouver Canucks centre Ryan Kesler (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=3513) in the head Wednesday night.

It's the longest suspension handed out in NHL history for an on-ice incident. New York Islanders forward Chris Simon (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=833) also got 25 games for his two-handed slash to the face of Ryan Hollweg (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=2500) of the New York Rangers last season.

''This was more than a careless and reckless play - it was senseless,'' Campbell said in a release. ''This was a deliberate cross-check to the face where Jesse Boulerice (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=58) broke the shaft of his stick on Ryan Kesler (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=3513)'s jaw. Boulerice went out of his way to deliver the cross-check and we will not tolerate this kind of conduct.''

But Neal almost decapitating Drury last year is OK right Cambell:question: you old dinosaur. If this was a Sabres player I guarantee that he would be suspended almost the whole season.

Boulerice should have got at least two years to life. Make the f'er sweat it out during the appeals process, and then by the time he's reinstated it would have been most of the season.
