Kurt Warner (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4541) said he believes there is ligament damage in his left (non-throwing) elbow but that it is not serious enough to knock him out for a substantial amount of time.

Kurt Warner believes he damaged ligaments in his non-throwing elbow on this play.

The Cardinals quarterback said he is hoping doctors can put a brace on it and he can play through it. Warner, who is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, said he will probably miss a week.
"We'll see the extent of it and see what we can do as far as getting me back as soon as possible," he said.
Warner made his first start Sunday in place of Matt Leinart (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7759), who is out for the season with a broken collarbone.
Warner got hurt on a sack by Carolina defensive end Julius Peppers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5888) midway through the first quarter. Warner fumbled on the play, and Peppers recovered.

An MRI performed Monday confirmed that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has a ligament tear in his left elbow, but a Cardinals spokesperson said Warner will not need surgery because the tear is expected to heal on its own.

The ligaments are torn in his left elbow, and the pain he can feel with certain movements is beyond excruciating.

But Kurt Warner is keeping a sense of humor as he sees if it’s possible he could miraculously play this weekend in Washington after ripping up his elbow against Carolina.

“If we could throw every down,” the right-handed Cardinals quarterback said, knowing coach Ken Whisenhunt was within earshot, “I’d probably be all right.”
