I'm watching the Monday night football game and I noticed that they have covered up half the seats in their upper deck, half the seats in their upper end zones, and other parts of their stadium. Why are they never mentioned in relocation talks? Thats plain old embarrassing if you ask me. The Jags are always pretty good, and they still can't sell their stadium out? If any team needs to be moved it's the Jags.

Jacksonville is one of those teams that have been considered for relocation.

Great post. The NFL is such BS. The Bills were 1-3 and still figured out how to get 73,000 people into the stands.

The Jags can't fill the seats ever but all we heard about from Cornsucker was how the Bills struggle in a small market.

They could move to Miami. I understand Miami fans support a winning team but they have not seen one except when visiting for a while.

The Jags have covered about 10,000 seats to try and avoid blackouts since 2004. Their fan base is a joke.

I doubt that there are 50,000 people at this game even though it is a sell out.

I was just there in July....Nice city ...It was a little like buffalo .. In things to do ....Not much going on during the week .. I guess i caught it on the wrong day.. They did build a nice shopping area .. It's a huge mall St johns something... The area is growing .. I was thinking of moving there .. But i think i would rather go to Orlando or Tampa...That's if i move .. Right now i like Buffalo too Much....

I don't think that Buffalo should EVER be mentioned in relocation talks. The team has been mediocre to downright dismal for almost a decade and the Ralph sells out FAR more often then not. And when it doesn't it's pretty ddarn close to S.O. It is a small market but it has a huge base (Toronto to the west and Buffalo/Syracuse to the East) and there are a couple of groups that are more than willing to purchase the team when the time comes (and at least one of them has plans to build a new stadium). It's a joke that they're even mentioned. There are a few teams out there that should be mentioned in relocation talks well before Buffalo...and, yes, Jacksonville is one of them.

I'm told by my good friend who moved down there that people don't care about the NFL there. It's all about college football to them.

ATTENDANCE: 67,164

Does ALLTEL Stadium seat 134328?

Buffalo's last home game, ATTENDANCE: 70,727.

Here's a clip from an old article,Posted 2/4/2005 8:39 PM... Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver decided in December to cover 9,700 seats in hopes of alleviating local television blackouts, which have become common the last two years in one of the NFL's smallest markets.

Maybe Ralph should think about doing the samething. That way we don't have any blackouts.

Let 'em go to LA. We'll play the one game in Toronto on an annual basis and keep our team where it belongs.

As the resident Bills fan here in JAX I will tell you that this team struggles to sell out! There previous home game against the Texans was blacked out ( 75 degrees sunny and their team was 4-1 and the game is blacked out) additionally they had to get an extention to sell out the first game of the season and yes there is alot of talk in the local media about blackouts and relocation! GO BUFFALO see ya on Nov 25th! (which will most likely be blacked out!

Those are CLUB Level seats you can get the same type of seats ($70.00) at the Jags as you can with the Bills, actually some company in Mich. did a study and the Bills and Jags were within like $4.00 dollars or something for Tiks, parking, beer, hotdog etc...

No wonder the owners are always pissed off, those ticket prices are crap. They need to jack them up A LOT.

Maybe Ralph should worry about putting a winning product on the field to avoid blackouts instead of just covering up seats.

Does Ralph cover up seats too???? I didn't notice any at the MNF game.....

No he doesn't. That was suggested by another person to avoid late season blackouts like the ones we had last year.

Yeah, I noticed they had a whole section covered in the upper tier on the right hand side. Why Jacksonville even got a team in the first place is a mystery to me. They already had the Bucs and Dolphins down there.

Exactly. Florida didn't need a third NFL team. Putting the Jags there to begin with was a big mistake.

http://www.bigcatcountry.com/story/2007/5/22/223310/162

does anyone here actually read posts or do you just enjoy the sound of your own voice? i'll post the meat of the argument so you can all skip it again:

It's a fair point, we do cover 9,700 seats (http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/JAC/8164105) but for a reason that's appearantly too complicated for the mainstream media to understand. You see, the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium is filled to capacity twice a season for the Florida-Georgia game (the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party) and the Gator Bowl. These events, particularly the Cocktail Party, led the City of Jacksonville to determine that the design of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium had to accept up to 84,000 attendees. Filling 84,000 seats twice a year for two very special college games is no problem. Unfortunatly, putting what was the 5th largest stadium in what is the de facto smallest market in the NFL is foolish. Expecting the Jaguars to fill out 84,000 seats, even when ultra-successful, is unrealistic. The stadium had to be downsized during the NFL season, otherwise every game would be blacked out.
This problem was in the back of the mind of Owner Wayne Weaver when he established the team in Jacksonville. When my parents bought our season tickets for the inaugural season, we had to buy them in four year packages. For the team to be awarded, every ticket had to be sold. So the team had a sure fire 84,000 seats sold out for the first four years. The 1998-1999 Jaguars were the tops of the league in record and our attendance matched. It wasn't till the slide started in 2001 that the inevitiable issues of stadium size and blackouts began to rear their ugly head.

No, they're not sold and they use these covers to make the stadium smaller to "sellout" the stadium. I'm tired of the Bills moving talk, when there are other franchises that should be considered first.
