its hands down the most important thing to a quarterback.

I've told my QBs that stats don't win games. And i mean it. A hand off on 1st and goal that goes for a touchdown doesn't show up on the QBs stat sheet. when your QB keeps a drive alive, and brings your team down to the 1 yard line, only to have the RB punch it in, some people might point at that and say "he stinks"

As far as a coach is concerned he did exactly what the team needed.

Stats can tell you some things. Trends for one. but in general for stats to mean anything you need a number of games (atleast 10) to average them out. taking a sampling of 2 or 3 games will never tell an accurate story.

There are many times when other factors are greater reasons for winning than the QB. Who says Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson is the reason their teams won SBs? When the Bills had their nice second-half run in 2004, was it because of Bledsoe, or was it because of the running game, defense and ST? To manage a game that's won by the rest of the team is nice, but it doesn't make a great QB.

It didn't do jack squat for Flutie.

Medium. Other factors help determine their effectiveness. How long the line gives him to find a receiver is a big one!

It may be important to the Quarter Back, but that's not the question. :;

this is an extremely loaded question because it's dependent on so many factors. Some systems only require consistent QB play whereas others require the QB's to make plays. The Colts or Pats would not be nearly as good without their star QB's- maybe 10 of the league's 32 starting QB's would get as many wins on those teams as their current QB's get. Similarly, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Doug Williams have SB rings whereas guys like Kelly and Marino do not, but only a moron would try to say that any of those SB winners are better QB's.

When it comes down to two QB's on the same team, wins are the most important factor. Edwards has found ways to win whereas Losman has not, and that's with the exact same group of players and coaches around them. That doesn't necessarily mean he's the better QB, but it does mean he's the better choice for the Bills at the moment.

The QB, rightfully or not, will always get all the credit for winning and all the blame for losing.

Not always. Just ask Norwood. :D
