Bombs could be in the forecast Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Buffalo Bills are eager — desperate, perhaps — to inject some explosive plays into their offense.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ defense has been susceptible to the big play.
The ability of the Bills to take advantage of the matchup may be a decisive factor when the Bengals visit Orchard Park.
“We’re lacking in both the run and the pass, and we have been all year,” Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild said in regard to explosive plays. “Obviously the more you get of those, the more productive you are.”
The Bills have just four pass plays of 25 or more yards. That’s tied with San Francisco for last in the NFL in that category, according to the statistical service STATS.

i hope our offense can turn things around this week. If the Bengals struggle against the pass, JP and Evans could capitalize and have a huge day.

Something tells me this is gonna be a high scoring game. Total points around 75?

I hope they do open up the offense. I'll believe it when I see it, though. Whenever I think or hear that the Bills will open up the offense, they always continue to play conservative.

They will, DMB. They need points.

There won't be 75 points in this game...no way! I do agree that it does have a chance to be a higher scoring game than usual for the Bills, but that just means that they'll score 20 points.

I'm with you on that one. I've been waiting for them to open it up since preseason. Let's get it going, Fairchild!

"We're lacking in both the run and the pass"?? That's pretty much all the offense there is other than just field goals!

Fairchild needs to go over his red zone playbook before he tries anything else.

Just as long as good decisions are made when we get into 3rd down situations, I'll be happy.
Please no double reverse halfback option pass to the QB or better yet, try running a quick slant instead of an out!

i agree it should have been done from game 1, but better late than never.
If we win tomorrow we are at .500...it's time for our offense to do more. Our D can't carry us all season long.

The correct statement would have been, "We're lacking in both the run, the pass and coaching." Now that would have wrapped it up.

We better see some damn rollouts, screens, slants, let JP run around in the pocket and make the play too! Hell, let's even see some no huddle! And I want at least 2 or 3 deep balls!

I cant figure out why it took them so long to "open up the offense". This coaching staff is a joke.

This artical backs ups what some of us were saying about the playcalling for the first 2 games. I would like to open things up a little more...but I also want to see what happens to JP short game this week.

We have two QB's that can't handle opening up the offense...one due to lack of experience, one due to lack of ability.

We also have an offensive line that is still learning as a unit, a lack of talent at some skill positions, and a defensive unit that is banged up and doesn't have enough talented depth to be successful when forced to be on the field an inordinate amount of time.

The entire team is young, and they need time to develop.
