Beyond his personal agenda, Losman needs to have a big day because this is a game where the Bills may find themselves in a shootout. Cincinnati is 2-5, but it has played just one team with a losing record and its offense is among the best in the league with Carson Palmer pitching to Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who leads the NFL with 58 receptions and has caught a TD in seven straight games.
"We do know we face a talented team that is much better than their record shows," Losman said. "You watch them on film and you see those things and they are talented, so we'll have to have our 'A' game.''
Defensively, the Bills haven't been tested like this since the Dallas debacle. Over the last four games the defense has come together as it has gotten healthier, but shutting down Chad Pennington (twice) and Kyle Boller is a little different than containing Palmer.
"Carson is a good trigger guy, Houshmandzadeh is playing very well and Chad is one of the best receivers in the league, so our hands are full," said defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
Whitner thinks the Bills are up to the challenge and therefore will have a great chance to start making fans outside our little slice of the country start paying attention.
"We're going to come out like everybody has doubted us all year," he said. "People say a lot of different things, but they don't know what goes on in this locker room. Half the people that watch us still think that we're not a good football team. We're still earning some respect around the league and this is just another step in earning respect this week."
