The NFL is looking into allegations that the Indianapolis Colts (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/ind/) piped in noise during the game Sunday between the Colts and the Patriots. The charge comes after Patriots President Jonathan Kraft became the latest NFL team executive to accuse the Colts of the distracting tactic that is against the rules.

"waaahh someone almost beat us... they must have cheated because we're so good there's no way a fair fight would have been so close"

The Patriots are the LAST team that should accuse other teams of underhanded tactics. God I HATE that ****ing team.

Oddly enough... I sorta noticed it too.

At one point, it sounded as if the crowd noise was "Skipping" as if being played from an old record.

I have no doubt that it is true. But at the same time.. I know for a fact that the Bills have done it too.

Oh.. haha maybe I should have read the article first.

Observers at the game said there seemed to be a "skip" in the sound during the game Sunday, which the Patriots won 24-20. That might confirm the long-held suspicion among many people in the NFL that the Colts play loud crowd noise to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense.

It was pretty aparent actually.

I heard the skip which is funny because Dungy went out his way to call out Bellichek for the cheating scandal.

Maybe they should disqualify both teams from the post season and we can play the Titans in the AFC Championship game!!

Again, with only 59k fans capacity for the rca dome...... its amazing the loudness it can get, and has been accused before of pumping up the volume so to speak

The announcers were all about how strong the Colts fnas were at keeping the crowd noise up the whole game, too. What a joke! I knew there was no way a midwest team (outside of maybe Chicago) would be as loud as a northeast team... even in a dome. They should lose a draft pick, too.

Meh. This has been going on for years. Every dome team does it.

All I care about is how loud we are when the Pats come around on the 18th

They should pipe crowd noise into Brady's helmet in 2 weeks.

I hate the Patriots, but if the Patriots thought Indianapolis was doing something against the rules, they should call attention to it. If found to be true, the league should pronounce sanctions. Dallas was the first Buffalo game I've been to in a long time. It was incredibly loud at times, but I thought the crowd noise was all genuine. It was great to be able to stand and start yelling when Romo went into the huddle and under center.

Hello People... you do all realize that Buffalo does this exact same thing.... right?

Be careful what you wish for... cause we could be next!

I honestly didn't know that teams DIDN'T do it.

Yeah I heard that too and I immediately thought of the crowd noise allegation. This could get sticky.

For those who didn't hear, here's the video. As soon as I heard this yesterday, the first thing that came to mind was canned crowd noise; it's obvious.

I remeber hearing that... I thought it may have been a feedback issue with CBS.

I did hear that during the game and I wondered what the hell it was. I thought it was something with the satellite transmission

Much ado about nothing, CBS is taking responsibility (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2007/11/cbs_checks_in.html):

Following up on the crowd noise issue in the RCA Dome, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello passes along the following:

"CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts telecast was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast. It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium."

And more (http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/patriots/index.php/2007/11/05/so-much-for-audiogate/):

This dovetails with what New York City sound engineer Jonathan D’Uva told us after hearing the recording. D’Uva, who has worked for CBS, noted that the skipping sound in this clip posted at Pro Football Talk ruled out the Colts amplifying live sound, “because since there is skipping, it couldn’t be the existing sound pumped through the stadium.” He also added that live sound piped through in-stadium microphones over the sound system would likely produce ear-splitting feedback.

“Are there any accounts of fans hearing that skipping in the stadium?” he asked. These ears didn’t hear anything out of the ordinary. Nor did other reporters.

D’Uva believed it sounded like a CBS issue, “either in the broadcast truck or at the main feed in NYC. The satellite feed sent from the game always goes back to New York before being sent out to the world.”

Yeah I noticed that skipping during the game. I thought "Whoa! Am I on an acid trip or something?" The stupid thing is that every team does this especially dome teams. I still don't understand why the Cheatriots are whining about it. They won the freaking game and I know that they know that every dome team they goes against does that. It's called home team advantage.

Wouldnt it make more sense for an open air stadium to use fake crowd noise? I figure it would be alot easier to get loud in a dome.
