ESPN makes their picks for the 2 AFC Wild cards...

    Tennessee Titans

    Current record: 6-2
    Projected record: 11-5
    Result: wild card
    Seed: No. 5
They are one of the most well-coached and physical teams in the NFL. The Titans win with a power run game and a "punch you in the mouth" defense. That style gives the explosive, elite teams a lot of trouble, especially if the game is in Tennessee. Right now, the Titans are winning without consistent quarterback play and that could haunt them down the stretch. They have a huge division game on Sunday against Jacksonville. The schedule also features San Diego at home and tough road trips to Kansas City and Indianapolis. The Titans won't win the division, but they will be a tough out in the playoffs.

    Jacksonville Jaguars

    Current record: 5-3
    Projected record: 10-6
    Result: wild card
    Seed: No. 6
The Jaguars are a hard team to get a handle on because their performance can dramatically change from week to week. We do know that they are a physical team that can run the football and play solid defense, but they need to get QB David Garrard healthy for the stretch run. The Jaguars have a tough remaining schedule -- road games at Tennessee, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh -- but they have a good chance to slide in as the last AFC wild card, which would mean that both wild cards would come from the AFC South.

makes sense...we will rue the two losses in the last second when we miss a playoff spot.

They have 3 probable road losses starring them in the face and Garrard is hurt. We are going to roll their asses out of the playoffs ourselves in JAX. I think ESPN is way off base here.

Anyone know how long Garrard is out for? Is he likely to play against the Bills in 3 weeks?

Don't forget Stroud is out for 4 weeks too.

Jax always seems to crumble down the stretch. I don't know if our wild card chances are any better then theirs, but they certainly wouldn't be my first choice.

Garrard was thought to be out 4 weeks when his injury first hit the news...which would mean he's out for 3 more weeks. With Gray I don't see that team winning a game. And I believe they have Indy lined up when Garrard is set to return.

I don't see them being a wild card contender at all with their problems at QB and now losing Stroud for 4 weeks.

The final wild card is gonna come down to Cle/Pitt and Buff. I think whoever wins this sunday in the Steelers-Browns game is gonna take the North and leave the other in position for the wild card.

If pitt loses and we tie them we lose the head to head, so Go pitt.

We need to beat Miami before even thinking Wild Card.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Very true, I just thought it was odd that the team i think least likely to get a wild-card berth was chosen.
