Give credit to J.P. Losman if he really means what he says.
When Buffalo was stumbling and bumbling to its 1-4 start, Losman said he never paid attention to all the negativity that was surrounding the team. So now that the Bills have suddenly become NFL darlings thanks to a three-game winning streak that has them on the periphery of the muddled AFC playoff picture, Losman is ignoring the praise that has been filtering through on One Bills Drive.
"They weren't saying such nice things about us before and we were able to not listen to any of that stuff and get our job done, so they could say positive and good stuff about us, but we can't listen to that, either," said Losman, who apparently wears ear plugs and blinders. "We just have to focus on our task at hand."
Sage advice from the fourth-year pro who will get the start at quarterback again today when the Bills take on the winless Miami Dolphins in steamy South Florida.
The one thing the Bills can't afford to do when they take the field at Dolphin Stadium is look at Miami's 0-8 record, go through the motions, and let their minds wander to next week's prime-time showdown with dynastic New England. They have worked too hard to get back to .500 and into a position where they have a chance to make a second-half run at a playoff berth, only to stub their toe against a downtrodden team.
