Tasker said it in the second half that the Bills finally stopped sending the receivers on deep routes on every pass play and they brought back the shorter check-down routes. That's what was hurting JP earlier in the season. They changed it for Trent and he was able to go through the progressions. Then Fairchild goes back to the deep routes nonsense he learned from Martz and JP has nowhere to go. I don't know if JP or even Trent is all that great but, clearly to me, Fairchild's poor game planning is what is handcuffing this offense. Imagine if we didn't have Lynch to fight for yards...

Bruce: What time is it?

Bruce: What time is it?
Biscuit: Showtime?
Bruce: (incensed) Hammertime!!
Biscuit: Hammertime!
Bruce: Hammertime is when you hitting that nail in a piece of wood with a hammer. You keep hitting that nail, over and over until you can no longer see the nail. You just see the wood is all splintered and what-not. That is Hammertime.Tags: None

Re: Play Calling
But, but...Jp's strength is the long ball, that kind of play-calling is too conservative, Fairchild needs to call the game to Jp's strength which is throwing deep to Evan's, 'open up the playbook, dammit!'....Yadda, yadda, yadda....
Fairchild should get credit for not only trying to gameplan to Losman's perceived 'strength' early on, but also for adjusting the routes when the long ball wasn't there.
I don't think too much criticism should be leveled at any of the coaches regarding today's win.YardRat Wall of Fame

huh? Our run game blows. Who should be held accountable for that? In an idealistic world, the run game should take the lead in TOP. The fins run game made our coaches look pathetic especially if you consider how much we paid for our OL and Chatman vs. Lynch.

Re: Play Calling
Our run game certainly can be better, and I still believe it will the longer these guys play together, but it definitely doesn't 'blow'. Also, and I'm sure we can go 'round and 'round on this, but no running game is going to be effective when the passing game is executed the way it was today.YardRat Wall of Fame

It blows compared to miamis OL who happens to be playing their back up rb. Ronnie Brown was leading the league prior to his injury.
It's also hard to make excuses that they will play better the longer they play when Miamis' has a revamped OL with supposedly less talent than what we have.
It also goes both ways. It's hard to get a passing game when your running game can't do anything.

I remember a game last week where the Dolphins lost 13-10 and the other QB had 48 yards passing. Nothing else matters though. It's just JP.
Some of these wannable critics, analysts and sports writers are just searching for anything. It was an ugly, hard fought win that we pulled off with Lynch AND JP, along with the rest of our WR's making the plays when they needed to and regained themselves after a bad start to the game on the road. You will have these kinds of games.
Last week our offense was rolling. None of that counted though because we did good. And even though we just had our 3rd straight comeback from behind win that doesn't matter either.
Face it. This is not a great team. We still haven't beat a great team. This isn't the type of team that is going to go out and blow any teams away. It was another hard fought victory like all of our victories have been this year. Let some complain about whatever they want and see only what they want depending on who is playing. These are just crybabies.

Re: Play Calling
Walker has exceeded most's expectations, I would guess. Dockery is dominant at times, Peters is consistent but still makes a bone-headed mistake now and then, and when was the last time Fowler or Butler were obviously over-matched?
They're not perfect, but they're not as bad as the last few years. either.YardRat Wall of Fame

Also. It is nobody's fault but their own that they have to hate seeing JP winning games for us in the 4th quarter. If it wasn't for their injury prone clone of Kelly Holcomb getting hurt again he would still be playing. Except he may have been benched after we lost the Jets and Bengals games. Face it we needed some offense and big plays them games and Edwards wasn't getting them. We would be 3-6 right now.

Re: Play Calling
this couldn't be a bigger load of licker crap. The offensive game plan was adjusted for the supposed strenghts of JP and he wasted downs, threw interceptions, and basically sucked ass against a bad defensive team in the division...continue licking as long as we stick with this guy the team is going no where.

I would agree if we're talking about pass protection. In the run game, we're pathetic. Lynch makes them look less pathetic because he has the ability to go forward or make something out of nothing when he CONSITENTLY get's tackled behind the LOS.
It's hard to say this OL is better than last years when you have Willis running for 3.7 YPg and Lynch having 3.8 with basically having to fight 3 defenders 90% of the time.
Even his longest run last week which padded his stats was ALL him. The OL had NOTHING to do with that run.
