NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Colts have claimed DE Simeon Rice off waivers from the Broncos.
It is very rare that a vested veteran like Rice with a $3 million contract would be claimed off waivers. The Colts now assume the contract Rice signed just after Week 1, so the Broncos have to love this. Rice could barely crack Denver's end rotation, but has a chance to make an impact in Indianapolis, which will be without Dwight Freeney (ankle/foot) indefinitely.
