They are, and will be, favored on paper to win all the rest of their games.
So what it now comes down to for the New England Patriots are the intangibles.
Like playing in Buffalo on prime time.
The fact that tonight’s game was switched from a normal 1 p.m. start to prime time (8:15) certainly indicates the nation’s interest in seeing the Patriots’ attempt to run the table, but on the road it also gives the Buffalo Bills a distinct advantage. The crowd at Ralph Wilson Stadium will certainly be into it more than usual.
The Patriots saw how the Dallas Cowboys had struggled a bit before pulling out a Monday night win in Buffalo last month. They certainly expect the same type of loud atmosphere.
“They were cranked up,” Pats linebacker Mike Vrabel said. “They made a big deal that they hadn’t been on Monday night in 10, 12 years and the fans rallied behind that . . . Hey, it’s going to be cold and wet and snowy there whether it’s at 1, or 4, or 8:15.”
