    Texans agree to new deal with Banks

    He was the Maytag Repairman of quarterbacks in 2002, never leaving the sideline as Houston Texans rookie David Carr took every snap for the club, despite suffering a league-record 76 sacks.

    But the Texans developed plenty of respect for veteran Tony Banks as a proven insurance policy and tutor, and have now reached agreement with the much-traveled quarterback, re-upping him as an unrestricted free agent, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports.

    Details of the agreement were not yet available but the contract is believed to be for one year.
