Could you please give me a list of the top 5 players at: DT, DE, OL, LB? Feel free to add more players if you'd like. I honestly feel that the Bills need to go into overdrive this draft by investing into the trenches on both O & D and maybe add another stud LB to play alongside Crowell and Poz. Who are the BPA that these positions who also fit the Cover 2 scheme?

Well, let's see - here would be my picks:

For DT, the top 2 are undisputed - if we land either, it would be a miracle:

1. Glenn Dorsey
2. Sedrick Ellis
3. Frank Okam
4. Dre Moore - I like this guy alot
5. Nick Hayden - might be tailored for a cover 2/rotational scheme and obtainable in the late 2nd/early 3rd???

For DE, I was listing Quentin Groves highly, but the switch they have forced on him into OLB hasn't suited him well. His grade gets lowered b'cse of that:

1. Chris Long
2. Calais Campbell - personally, I don't like really tall DEs - as I think it is detrimental to them in the pros. I don't think he would be a good fit in Buffalo regardless.
3. Derrick Harvey - better for 3-4
4. Quentin Groves
5. Tyson Jackson

Honorable mention: Lawrence Jackson and Vernon Gholston should be two names you should keep an eye on.

OL? Tackle or Guard or Center?

OT:
1. Jake Long
2. Ryan Clady
3. Sam Baker (if he can recover from hamstring)
4. Gosder Cherilus
5. Jeff Otah (rising star)

OG: (weak class)
1. Eric Young
2. Michael Oher
3. Will Arnold
4. Andrew Bain
5. Shannon Tevaga

C: (weak class)
1. Alex Mack
2. Adam Spieker
3. Mike Pollack
4. Marcus Coleman
5. Steve Justice

OLB:
1. Keith Rivers
2. Dan Connor
3. Shawn Crable
4. Xavier Adibi
5. Ali Highsmith (a bit undersized)

Honorable mentions: Phillip Wheeler's stock has dropped due to inconsistency, but he may be better suited to WLB rather than ILB. Casper Brinkly is another decent prospect...

We need a draft that is tailored to our cover 2 style. Without trades, I've love a draft that might look like the following:

1. Malcolm Kelly (WR) - Tall WR prospect that would solidify our #2 WR position and help in the red zone.

2. Dre Moore (DT) - Quickly rising prospect. I had hoped he might go under the radar, and drop to the lower rounds for us to grab...but that seems unlikely. Great athlete.

3a. Phillip Wheeler (LB) - versatile with experience inside and out, might project better at weak side than inside though.

3b. Charles Godfrey (CB) - good speed, and not short - enough with the dwarf CBs on our team.

4. Adam Spieker (C) - time to start molding our next Center since Duke Preston is not it.

Longshots:

5a. Adam Kraus (OG) - big guy who may likely serve on the PS initially.

5b. Anthony Hill (TE) - TEs might be better to bring in via FA this year.

6. Blake Smith (DE) - short but big guy who can hopefully learn to use leverage.

7a. Ernie Wheelright (WR) - Tall, speedy prospect who may need time to develop.

7b. Antonio Lewis (CB) - speed. Cover 2 loves speed...

On the other hand, if we do include trades, I wonder what it might cost for us to go after one of the top 2 DTs. The DLine providing pressure is so important in a cover 2, that it has to be considered...I just wish we hadn't given Kelsay such a big contract!

Glenn Dorsey is likely going 1st pick, but if we could target Ellis, we can try and trade with the Raiders who are so far down the totem pole, they might welcome a trade to boost their pickings. We'd likely need to get above Cincinnati to take Ellis so:

FA: Go after these FAs in the following order:

WR: We need a #2 WR next to Evans. Even if we drafted a rookie, it might not produce immediate results so...

1. Patrick Crayton (unlikely for the Cowboys to let him go)
2. Bernard Berrian
3. Devery Henderson
4. Jerry Porter

TE:

1. Eric Johnson
2. Ben Troupe
3. Jeremy Stevens

Draft: - With grabbing a WR & TE from above during FA, I might consider doing the following:

1st rd (5th pick): Sedrick Ellis - (trade 1st rd this year, 2nd rd pick this year, 2nd rd pick next year and our first 3rd this year) - it would cost us if we end where we currently are in the line up - but we'd get an extremely strong and stout DT that can help boost our pass rush!

3b. Charles Godfrey (CB) - good speed, and not short - enough with the dwarf CBs on our team. Along with the CBs returning from injury, we could have a nice, speedy CB corps...

4. Angelo Craig (DE) - speedy prospect. If we are going to focus on the Dline, we need to get the personnel to fit it.

Longshots:

5a. John Sullivan (C) - A center to groom that seems somewhat athletic...

5b. Marcus Walker (CB) - decent speed to help supplement our CB corps. Cover 2 loves speed.

6. Taj Smith (WR) - local boy (Syracuse) - helps generate more local area positive news.

7a. Ernie Wheelright (WR) - Tall, speedy prospect who may need time to develop. I still take him also - he'll likely be in the PS, but we need size!

7b. Mitch Erikson (OG) - small, but good work ethic and could be given time to gain weight...

All in all, I wouldn't be upset with what we have to give up to get Ellis...

Good reads mysticsoto! Do you think either Connor or Rivers will last to our pick? Also, if Connor and Rivers are gone, do you think Okam would be a viable option with our first round choice?

I'm not particularly concerned with picking a LB with our 1st rd given that Poz will be returning next year, DiG has looked good, Ellison can still improve more, and Crowell has been good. A lower rd pick maybe, but not 1st.

Okam is a huge guy, but he seems to lack...drive? for lack of a better word? He is huge and will occupy space, but is not well suited for attacking the QB as our Dline is supposed to be. He wouldn't be a good fit for us. He's more of a space eater, stuff the run, but stay where he is type of player...
