Hopefully this will preserve more of the talent on the field and help eliminate senseless tragedies.

But will it prevent people from posting a topic and then adding multiple more posts talking to themselves rather than just putting it all in the first post?

We can only hope...

Is this supposed to be positive?? I feel a air of nagging hate and mistrust?? Please stay away from my posts, you are a troll at best to me and I really am asking so nicely.

P.S. Being useless is posting things to try to trash someone else posts, like you just did.

.003 of a second it reinflates, wow is that fast or what. You can take like 3 shots to the noggin on one play and still have air left in the helmet, pretty neat. The current foam stuff does nothing really.

It's a good idea, and maybe it will help.

But, quite honestly, until the league starts cracking down on the lack of mouthpieces and unbuckled chin straps there will always be unnecessary concussions.

Also, helmets have actually been the cause of many more injuries than people realize because players play with much more reckless-abandon when they are wearing them.

Believe it or not, I know several sports medicine doctors who believe NFL players would be safer wearing a soft pad on their heads (kind of like the old leather helmets, but an actual pad) instead of the actual full hemets and facemasks they wear today. It would cause players to not use their heads when making contact (which is the bigger issue). Kind of odd to think about, but maybe they're right?!

I remember seeing the good old hockey days went they went helmetless and the goalie had the leather on. Man I just cringe thinking of that and a big slap shot hitting you in the head. You probably had to stitch yourself up and had shots of whiskey to get you back in the game, iron league stuff.

Nice Freakenomics analogy, he makes the same point about seat belts leading to more vehicular homicides

1. Thanks for the education. I never heard of "Freakonomics" before and just Googled it. Interesting stuff.

2. Do you agree?

I think the helmet is being used as a weapon, it's been curtailed a little in the past few years due to helmet to helmet being called as a penalty. But it's not surprising the risk of serious injury has increased in the past 15 or so years then in the earlier days of the NFL when the game was a much rougher brand. Clothesline tackles, forearm shivers as tackles, the horse collar, taking out a guys knees while blocking, giving people an extra few shots in a pileup were the norm of the game back in the day. All that stuff is illegal now and serious injuries are up. Why?

Most likely due to players thinking they're invincible with all the padding/protection.

Yes I think the theory plays out well granted Im not the best source point for this question, Ive trained myself to become an abstract thinker, so out of the box ideas or playing devils advocate is what I do (hell its what I get paid to do). So safety equipment that actually puts people in more harm then safety? Makes perfect logic to me. You should real Freakenomics if you got the extra cash to spend on it, extremely fascinating book all about common place misconceptions looked at abstractly. Great Read!
