Icing? Lindell’s cool with it
What did stun Lindell and the Buffalo Bills was Gibbs’ decision to call another timeout, which is illegal. When a second one’s called with the kicker on the field, it results in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct. Suddenly a long field goal try became a much shorter one.
“When we came back out after the Redskins called that first timeout and the whistles blew, I was like, ‘What’s going on? Certainly they didn’t call timeout again,’ ” Lindell said. “Once I found out they did, I knew it was a penalty. If they want to move me 15 yards closer I’ll take it.
“But I didn’t want to get too excited because you still have to hit a decent ball. It was a great snap by Ryan [Neill] and a great hold by Brian [Moorman]. All I had to do was make the kick.”
Of course I'd expect Lindell to know the rule - he is a kicker and not like it is his responsiblity to know all of the rules like a coaching staff. BTW the Washington coaches saw him standing by referee second time and did nothing.
